Pre-paid Maintenance question - New GLK Owner

I purchased the 3 year pre-paid maintenance as part of my lease. The dealer charged $1000 to my lease. However, the Mercedes-Benz website says the maintenance plan is $769 for 3 years. I feel the dealer may have overcharged me for the maintenance

Has anyone on this forum purchased the maintenance plan? If so, how much did the dealer charge you?

I took delivery this week and purchased the three year maintenance plan on the GLK. I paid the $769 and it was added to the MSRP and the sales price so as to residualize it. Three weeks ago, I took delivery of an E350 and it was handled in the same manner.

The dealer can charge you any amount they want to but if they charge you more than $795 for an acquisition fee or more than list for the maintenance package, they are taking advantage of you.

Thanks a lot for this information. The dealer charged me $1095 for the acquisition fee plus $1000 for maintenance. I haven't taken delivery of the car as it is in transit but they asked me to come in yesterday to finalize so they could get the deal in for the month. I have sent an email to the Sales Manager with my concerns and to hold off the deal.

Since they are playing with the numbers, you might also check the money factor. I paid .00116 for a two wheel drive and the AWD is .00115. I actually did a one pay and the rate was lower but those are standard rates for September on GLK 36 MO. I paid 87.92% of sticker on a $43,000 unit.

On a lease, changing the numbers can add several dollars of profit to the dealer and add substantially to your cost. There are on-line sites that give current money factors and have a calculator to check lease payments. Good luck!

They are charging me .00140 instead of .00115 on a 4Matic model. I'm going to ask the dealer to adjust the money factor, maintenance cost and acquisition fee or I will pull out of this deal.

Thx.

Over the term of the lease, the added margins will cost you about $1191. Whether that is enough to back out for, who knows. It certainly is enough to talk about. The finance person is paid based on what they can add to the deal. Most people do not do enough research or have enough knowledge to know where they are doing it.

Look for a PM.

I have a 27 month lease, and got 2 year maintenance prepaid, which includes 1 year service and 2 year service schedules. Cost me about $460 (my friend works at the dealer, so not sure if I got it heavily discounted).

Is not a MUST that you send your lease car to your dealer for service. There are many good Indy garage charge less and with good service.

If you pay the normal retail price for the maintenance package on a lease, it is a no-brainer. You are only paying half of the cost, or less, when they residualize the maintenance which is going to be cheaper than even an independent will do the maintenance.
