2013 GLK - Burl Walnut vs Alum Interior

2013 GLK - Burl Walnut vs Alum Interior
Unfortunately our local supply of 2013 GLK's is very sparse. I have only had the opportunity of seeing the 2013 model with both alum trim interior options. I do like the structured alum look with black mbtex, coupled with a black roof liner.
But I also have seen pictures of the beige MBtex interior with Burl walnut. It looks great in the pictures, other than the fact there is a burl color, beige color, black instrument color, and brown dash/steering wheel/storage console. Maybe too many colors?
Has anyone gone with the beige and burl walnut interior or seen one in person? Is a cheap looking wood? It seems some manufacturers do a great job with wood interiors, some definitely not. Thanks.

I have the black exterior with the beige/mocha and Burl wood combination. Certainly color is subjective but I really like the combination. To me, it is very rich looking and the wood is outstanding.

Interesting. I just tried to build our 2012 with the 2013 MBUSA build your GLK selections. No can do for 2013. We purchased Palladium Silver over grey/black leather. Grey/black is only available in MB-Tex. Too bad. The Minister of the Interior would have balked at MB-Tex.
Anyway, Palladium exterior & Grey/Black interior with walnut trim suits our taste. However, I would have picked the open pore ash trim in a heartbeat if it had been available.
Whatever floats your boat will work for you.
Enjoy!

I also have the Almond/Mocha interior in my Pebble Gray GLK. I think the interior colors look great together and I get lots of compliments from everyone who gets in my car.

White sans Pano roof
We have the leather almond mocha interior with burl wood in our 2013. Having owned MBs through several generations we feel it is a tasteful combination of the past with the 21st century. It has enough "metal" inside to set off the rest of the car. The SUV is quite handsome, inside and out..

I have the light grey liner with the black MBTEX and aluminum dash and I love it...everyone who gets in it seems to love it too. kind of a more modern elegant look than luxury look. never cared for the wood trim. but I did see a black wood trim on a top of the line GLK and it looked superb...if I could I would switch out the aluminum for the black wood but that would be the only other option INMO.

There are two alum versions. One is matte, like a Q5 alum int. the other is grained. I like them both as I do think it gives the glk a sporty feel. But the wood does look good in pictures.

The wood looks more "classy" and the aluminum looks more "sporty". The wood looks like it probably costs extra - it's that nice.
Kinda like the difference between the luxury and sport models of the c-class. Sport has the MB emblem inside the grill, and luxury has the emblem on the hood.
Personally, I like the luxury side of things, so I went for the wood (burl with almond/mocha interior).

GLK w/ Aluminum trim
Not aware that there is more than 1 Aluminum trim. By the way this is a SPECIAL ORDER with a $250 fee.

Special ordered 2013 Silver with Ash interior. Truly outstanding! Don't confuse this with other models. It IS NOT brushed aluminum. Has a carbon fiber look to it. Great with our interior. May not be good with brown/mocha colors. Don't trash it if you have not seen it with the proper interiors. Probably goes best with Ash or Black.

1- Dark Ash Wood Trim (option 736)
2- Burl Walnut Wood Trim (option 731)
3- Aluminum trim - longitudinal grain (like Q5) (option H79)
4- Aluminum trim - structured surface (option 739)
I am surprised you were charged extra for Dark Ash, as I assumed any of these were available at no charge. Obviously not in some cases.
I do think the alum trim is sporty, and the other reason I am leaning that way is going with black seats, alum trim, and then getting the black roof liner.

To answer the OP's question, the wood grain interior looks very good. It does not look like 'wood-grain plastic'. It was excellent color, depth, and grain.
It looks every bit as good as the four Jaguars we have had, which all had real wood trim.
Now here's my opinion. I like wood, aluminum looks cheap to me. But my opinion is not relevant, everyone has different opinions and yours is all that matters.

We have burl walnut in our 2012 and the quality seems top notch. I was taking a friend to lunch the other day and he commented that he thought the wood looked great, but was it real. I replied, "I think so, but I'm not 100% sure."
So, is it?

I really like the aluminum on the old GLKs, but it's not available on mbusa when I do a build out of the 2013 GLK350. Is this a custom order only? if so, is there a list of other custom order possibilities?

I think that the aluminum looks cheap. Maybe this view is a carryover from my C300 sport where wood was a $350 option.
On the 08 and 09 C sport version, wood was not available. Many were buying luxury models and changing the grills just to have the wood.

All MB wood trim is real. They bond high quality veneer onto an aluminum backing for safety; it will not splinter in an accident.

I ordered my 250 BlueTec with the wood. I just think it looks better with the almond/mocha interior choice. My wife however does not like it she said it looks like a car from the 70's.

2013 Glk Alum. trim
Yes the aluminum trim is a special order. $250 IT'S NOT LIKE THE C CAR! More like carbon fiber. See my previous post. Looks great on our 2013 GLK.
