Took delivery of a GLK250 Bluetec
I recently took delivery of a Diamond White 2013 GLK250 Bluetec. To my knowledge it was one of the first diesel GLK to be delivered in BC. I had originally intended on ordering one for an August delivery, but the sales person was somehow able to find an exact match of the car I wanted waiting to be prepped at the port. With the enticing Spring delivery incentives I decided that it wouldn't hurt to get the car early. I've been lurking around the forum for quite a while in 2010 when considering to get a GLK. I was disappointed at the time because it wasn't offered with a diesel engine so I went and bought a BMW 335d. My first exposure to diesel cars was driving a loaner W203 C270 CDI around 11 years ago. The C240 I had at the time was a shop queen and loved staying at the dealer. To make things worse I was living in Asia at the time and all the little parts and components had to be imported from Germany. Service turnaround was measured in months, but to be honest I didn't miss my car a single bit. The dealer kindly provided a C270 CDI and I was instantly hooked. I even secretly wished that more problems would develop with my car so I could have the loaner for a longer time.
Fast forward to 2013 and I've finally added a diesel GLK to my garage. I considered a MINI Countryman, X1, X3, and the Q5 while shopping around, but ultimately the GLK won because of its diesel engine. The car is equipped with the navigation, premium, convenience, bi-xenon, driving assistance, AMG sport, and command navigation packages.
Here it is peeking into the garage.

Diamond White Metallic is a gorgeous colour in person. It tends to reflect the colour of the surrounding so it appears warmer or cooler depending on the environment.

There she is all fresh after a shower.

I didn't go for the AMG wheels as I preferred the standard 20s and for 2013 it appears to be 2 toned.

The Dark Ash Wood trim looks almost Piano black on most days, but glistens when the sun comes out.

Here it is looking more like a piano black trim.

Yep, its a diesel. Fuel economy has been decent given the car's less than 1000km mileage. I've been getting around 6-7L/100km on the highway and about 8-9L/100km in city driving. Not bad at all considering that the engine is very new. My fully broken in 335d gets around the same on the highway but only gets around 10L/100km in city driving.

When the dealer got the updated 2013(2012?) GLK350 in last summer, he called us in to take it for a rip. A real improvement on the old vehicle (ours one of the first 2010s), in terms of interior spec, features, and most important handling and power. The steering was tighter and more responsive, and the engine was noticeably more powerful. The new GLK is miles better than the old GLK in my experienced opinion.
That said, our old vehicle was reliable, comfortable, and very very capable both on and off road. We would take one long road trip each year (7days plus camping and B&Bs) and at least four long weekend trips each year with 100km+ off road each (fly fishing - active logging roads and out of service logging roads). The car never let us down - well only once when when a fuse popped out and we were stranded in Northern California without nav - we checked the fuses and found the problem, but not until after 30mins of sweating about having to make the rest of our navigation decisions between the two of us. !!!.
The 250BT is a diesel through and through. The power plant changes the soul of this vehicle into a truly utilitarian one, particularly at low speed. If you like matting the accelerator around the city, stay away from the diesel. For us, it's great. We're 1000km in and we've had the car in all kinds of conditions except off-road and are extremely happy with our decision to stick with this vehicle.
Fuel economy is a big improvement too. We're still getting ~10l/100km in the city but we are seeing the numbers coming down already.
See you out on the road!
I didn't even know that you could order one since last year. The wait must've felt like an eternity for you. I'd like to think that I was quite lucky to be able to get the exact car I want on a random visit to the dealership.
By the way, does your inflate kit come with a can of tire sealant? I've tried looking around in my trunk and the tire sealant is nowhere to be found. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong place?
The inflation kit is in a compartment on the left side as you look forward from the rear hatch area. It is not below the floor panel but in the side.
I like the new colour of the rims, it should not as much brake dust. LOL
Congrats.

Edit: Question: Does Mercedes offer start-stop tech in Canada? Does yours have it?

I don't believe the 250 in Canada nor US have the start stop function; mine doesn't. As far as I know the feature is standard only on the 350 here.

I was told upon order that there is an issue with the supplier of the start stop button/Keyless Go that fits into the key hole. If not rectified before mine is built then a refund on the price of $800 is in order. The start stop function for the engine is another issue that many people don't like even though it is suppose to increase mileage but the unknowns re wear and tear of the components is not something long term drivers are comfortable with. I am please to hear that the 250 does not have this feature at least for Canadian spec units.

I've driven cars with auto start / stop in europe and they're ok as long as you don't get it in manual. The abrupt start / clutch takeoff definitely takes some getting used to. Auto start / stop has been around for quite a while so I'm confident that they've sorted it out by now.
Traded my 2010 GLK350 for the 250. Same options and paint with mocha brown leather, black headliner, AMG wheels and trailer hitch.
Should be here in two weeks, dealer tells me it's on the boat right now

I see that you're from the US. There are a few differences in options and standard equipment for the Canadian market. The AMG package can be ordered without the AMG wheels here. I'm sure you could work something out with the dealer to have it swapped on delivery if you really want to.

can't wait to see the different between the bluetec and the gas one
