2013 GLK roof rack cross rails

I'm going to need a cargo box for my 2013 GLK 250 and have been debating about the cross rails. I ran across these today on e*bay and wondered if anyone has ordered a set yet: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-13-MERCEDES-BENZ-X204-GLK350-ROOF-RACK-RAIL-CROSS-BAR-LUGGAGE-CARRIER-CHROME-/181157660709?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a2dd68825&vxp=mtr#ht_1569wt_1399

Question; Those are good looking and I guess for a cargo box would work well. But, what do you do with a ladder or a small boat, not in a holder. How do you keep it from moving side to side? My Yakima cross rails extend beyond the roof rails so I can put rope or bungies around the outer part to hold the ladder from moving side to side. I once had a ladder on these types of rails, the rear slid out while going around a corner. Scared the guy behind me!

glk350
I have a set of MB cross rails that I bought from a guy who has a 2013 glk350 but found they wouldn't work with his Thule box . When I got home I found they didn't quite fit my 2010 glk350.

Checking further I found there was a slight change for the 2012 and 13 models with a different part number (A2048902393)

The dealer price on them is crazy I think it was somewhere between $500 and $800

Anyways if you want them I would let them go for $250 PLUS shipping from Ny 14103

If you are interested let me know at: cliffniagara@gmail.com

I just installed the S54 Whispbar set by Yakima on my 2013 GLK 250. Very little to no wind noise at 70 mph depending on the local wind speeds and direction. They really match the aluminum roof rails well. they are also streamlined, so look more stock than OEM MB roof rails. Allows enough space for venting and sliding of moonroof. see attached pics. Way to go IMHO, for the least intrusive rail option that you could keep on at all times and supports many yakima and other accessories and cargo boxes. The weight limit is 164 lbs, which is the listed weight limit listed on the GLK. They also of course make the vehicle look a little more utilitarian, which I like.

BTW, got them for $369 at REI, which has a no questions asked 1 yr return policy. I think they are 329 on Rack attack.

Those look great. Less space than the stock (If you want a roof box and a bike rack), but if you don't need the space, they seem to be a better option.

Whispbar makes other racks that are raised, like the mb Thule one as well with less wind noise and better mpg. There are even " through" rails that extend laterally beyond the side rails

Those look sweet...

I am going to assume that you can not use a Cargo Box (carrier) with these as there does not look like enough clearance for the clamps?

Thanks

** Edit - Found pictures of these cross bars with Cargo Carrier.. that's great!

GLK350 roof rails

I drove from CT to FL with a LLBean roof bag and constantly worried about front to back slippage, even though I had gutter straps--- the GLK only has bright side rails-no cross bars -I've been looking for something to add to the factory chrome rails that I don't mind seeing on the truck day to day - these look great - thankX for the pictures- a real help!

They are very unobtrusive, visually. Noise-wise, except when driving at highway speeds on very smooth highways or on windy days, you cannot hear them at all -- and even then, it's something you have to kinda listen for (my wife can't tell).

Just bought some MB roof racks and cargo box from craigslist. What do you all think??? I have a 2014 GLK250. Also took a road trip (right before I bought the box) to Reno from central Cali and averaged 42.1MPG on the way back!!! I love this freakin car!

yes
I think the GLK looks better without the cargo box and MB roof racks. I think you can carry more with the MB roof racks and cargo box. What kind of answers were you expecting???

Looks nice.
I realize this is an old thread, but I have a question... Do those Whisper bars allow enough clearance for either the Thule or Yakima cargo box clamps? Especially on the front bar when the sun roof is open?
