Add sirius satellite to 2014 GLK audio 20 with HK?
Hi all,
We finally have our 2014 250 here on US soil (see below). I thought when we upgraded to HK stereo it was satellite ready. Dealer here suggested otherwise. Does anyone know if I can add satellite radio and control it with the stock system? This is not a command system, just stock with HK upgrade.
I promise I've tried multiple searches on this but if I've missed a past thread I'd love guidance on where to find it.
Cheers

You can get an internet only subscription for your iphone or android and use the bluetooth audio connection (not sure if it's available with audio 20). It works great and is pretty seamless, just have to change channels with the phone.

Thank you. Our problem--which is rarely something I consider a problem--is that where we do much of our driving, cell towers and radio antennae are few and far between. We really do rely on the direct satellite signal.

Yes, I know it's frustrating. I just bought a E300 and it does not have Sirius as well. Am looking for a simple plug and play solution but have had no luck as of yet.
Will keep looking though.

Getting Sirius
If all else fails you can get a converter. Sirius to FM. Works well.

Well... frankly this guy's build is downright "strange" - and if this vehicle was a ML or GL this config would have set off a anti-export trigger for closer scrutiny.
The GLK250BT "standard" audio is AM/FM-HD/US-Weather and MB internet streaming radio thru mBrace 2 - Bluetooth phone, Bluetooth music streaming, USB data port
This GLK250 does have HK audio upgrade - which is like $850
This GLK does NOT have satellite radio option -which is separate $430
This GLK does not have Media interface.
To add satellite I would recommend Sirius Lynxwith added LV1 audio kit and stream that by Bluetooth.
Keep the beat !

I ask this in all seriousness because I'm genuinely curious. Do good car audio shops still exist?
The only car audio "shop" I can still name around here is Best Buy. It seems that the people who were once willing to pay for quality aftermarket are now satisfied with the better factory offerings, leaving the aftermarket mostly to young drivers for whose budgets Best Buy is a better fit. As a result, the good shops I knew of have either gone out of business completely or stopped doing automotive installations and now only do A/V for homes and businesses.

Shops are a bit harder to find - but frankly the Lynx has both FM and Bluetooth capability - can be used DIY without LV1 kit which adds mini-puck car antenna (which can be front glass mounted or under ash with no metal over it - and adds 12v power connect - and adds cradle or the LV1 car kit can be handled/installed by a BestBuy or whatever

Maybe you need a trip to California? There are hundreds of good audio shops. Most of us take a pass on Best Buy. Those guys mean well but aren't good enough. Do some research on Yelp or something. If you post your location I'm sure we (or I) can find you some good local choices. Another local choice for you call SoundsGreat USA in the Toms River NJ area. He does hundreds of these and he's good. There should be a module that plugs in the back of your HK that lets you toggle to Sat through the radio buttons on the front panel - just like factory. He sold me a unit for my wife's Lexus and it works great - cost around $250
