Anyone had luck buying OEM Xenon headlights for 2014 GLK?
I've been looking everywhere but can't seem to find a place that sells them? Do I have to go through my dealer? I want to replace my halogen lights for xenons but I don't want to do a retrofit. The only one's I found are from china http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-2014-year-Benz-GLK260-GLK300-LED-Headlights-D2H-HID-Xenon-projector-Lens-/231324441796?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2014%7CModel%3AGLK250&hash=item35dc02dcc4&vxp=mtr. The description says its for factory halogen cars but is this model they are selling the oem lighting package? Is this a scam? Hoping someone has experience with these or know where I can get a good price on some xenon headlights similar to the lighting package. many thanks!
ps: I know there are many threads on how to convert your headlights but I haven't found one with how to find oem lighting package or complete aftermarket headlight assembly for 2013-15 GLK 204.

Yes, it's pretty pricey. I'm still debating to buy or not. I tried to negotiate down and offered $600+shipping. The vendor's exact words were "sorry no, it costs much." This is the story of my life!

i'm also curious to see them installed on a car and how the projector cut-off/quality is like.

Here is a pic of the back of the chinese headlights. I think they are made by Win Power International Technology. The rep said: "Hi, this is the picture of the back of GLK. it is play and plug, no need to do any wiring. thanks." The price including shipping is $1180. I am trying to bring it down to $1000. Anyone else interested in getting a set, just in case I can bring the price down? Thanks!

And what about automatic xenon nivelation? If your car came from factory with halogens, you don't have nivelation sensors on the axles...Won't be a problem for police, technical control, etc???

I'm definitely interested in this. I just saw a listing on ebay from www.wplamps.com "Win Power" lights. It's going for $1268. I offered him $900. We'll see if he takes it. They look just like stock.

These whole units might be a bit better than the bulb conversions. But without the required leveling sensors, They are illegal.
Folks really need to read the tests by lighting consultant Daniel Stearns. Link
But I guess that as most folks are concerned with "looking cool" And safety be damned. HID "kits" will be a big seller.

Stern's website should be required reading before a purchase and then only after a 48 hour "cooling off" period :-)
That is unfortunate that these things are even allowed on the market. They have a tendency to blind oncoming traffic unless one aims them so low that they have trouble seeing down the road. Which was the original selling point of plasma lamps.

I understand the reluctance for installing this but the current oem light is not so bright at all. If these headlights can make an improvement rather than just for cosmetic reasons that's a good thing. The oem lights of my GLK pales in comparison to my Range Rover sport with HID or my 2015i escalade platinum with LED.

Your RR's HID's were designed by RR and tested to a high standard. The same goes for your Caddy. RR nor Caddy ordered a generic HID/LED kit from **** yu industries in Taiwan. Does anyone think that these after market HID kit makers actually do any testing to ensure that they are designed to allow you better vision at night WITHOUT blinding oncoming traffic? or to meet DOT or EU specs?
One can "probably" update their MB to HID by having your dealer install the factory lens/light units and the associated level sensors. I imagine that the factory HID lens assembly would work great even without the level sensor as the light pattern is so well controlled. One would just need to make manual adjustments when they load up the family and luggage.

I didn't assume anything. But it was a poor choice in words on my part. I'll put it this way. the "general" consensus of most looking to install HID
'kits" are twofold.
1, it looks cool. And is probably the single biggest factor folks look at in an HID kit.
2, Most folks that don't read the Stearn article, Mistakenly make an assumption that the brightness of the HID's are what makes them better.
Of course the brightness is only half the story. Brightness and a well controlled beam is the correct combo. Something that the add a bulb kits fail to do.
Kudos to you for thinking OEM first.

I recently had my wife's GLK for two issues. One the iPhone charger + UBS charger + 13V charger. It is just GLK standard slooooow charging. I would have thought that the 12V charger with a 10W adapter would allow the 2.1A to charge our iPhone 6 as fast as the wall chargersand out Audi and previous Audi's. Sadly not true.
For the second problem, poor headlight performance. The service noticed that both lights were aimed a little lower than they should have. So after adjusting time to the normal angle. The night time lighting improved vastly.
So those of you who had problems with the headlights not being as bright, try getting them adjusted. Oh course they are not going to be as bright as OEM LEDs.

Inyoury, GLK's are the same as other cars. 12-13.8 volts @ 75amps or more is the typical automotive output from the alternator. Most auto cigarette lighter outlets are fused at 10-15 amps at 12 volts or 120-180 Watts.

So given the fact when we tried to charge through the cigarette outlet with a belkin adapter which my wife has used on her old Q5 and my old A6 with the same iPhone6s we were able to charge the phones 0-100% within an hour. With her GLK we could only charge 10% in 4 hours while using it. I know for a fact on the Q5 the same belkin adapter would charge while being used almost within a hour. So it was strange to me. The iPhone charging cord that came with the GLK charges at just less than 1% per minute if unused. But the USB port doesn't, it charges about 1/2% per minute. I have tried 3 different cords, two apple lightening cords and 1 belkin. All the same slower charging.

I suppose the next step would be to measure the output at the cigarette plug with a multimeter. I'm a ludite when it comes to phones. (I genuinely despise the things & only use a tracfone for urgent things) I do use an Ipod touch BT for tunes in my GLK and use the rear seat Cig socket with a USB adapter to power it & have not had any issues. When I need it. I use the front Cig socket to power the Garmin. Again, No issues.
Perhaps there is an iPhone app to measure the charging voltage/amperage from your plug in adapter.
You said you had a 10W adapter. Ohm's law says that 10W @12 Volts is only .83 amps draw on the cigarette lighter plug. (a rather small load) A normal USB power supply output is either 5v @ 1amp or 5V @ 2.1 amp. So your 10W adapter will get to 2amps @ 5Volts max. (close enough that it should charge fine) If your voltage at the cigarette plug is normal. Then your adapter/cord/phone are the problem.

I know our phones, cords and adapter are fine. It works fine in my Audi as I mentioned before. We even used them on rental cars both in Toronto and Memphis and they performed well as usual. The GLK is only 4 months old and bought new with only 14 miles on it when purchased. I don't drive it much but to church with the family and the long trip we had about a month ago. The dealer here sends a loaner and picks up the car so the convenience of having it go to the service is nice rather than buying a multimeter.
The main reason I would like to resolve this is that we use my wife's car for family trips, long and short. So the devices we use, iPads for the kids on long trips, phones for additional navigation like waze in conjunction with the car Navi. We like the car navi, but a little slow on the updates. Waze is nice because it shows police and traffic pattern better. When we have the waze running and plugged in, the charging is extremely slow. We have tried it on my Audi and it charges fast with no problem. The iPad's won't even charge while being used. With the Audi and same adapter and cords, no problem. So I can assume it is my devices...
Thank for your input by the way.
