2015 GLK350 basic model, no packages, + 4 year prepaid maintenance $37684
After comparing several SUVs, I like GLK350 most. I am interest in basic 2015 GLK350 model with no packages. The best price from dealers is $35684, MSRP $38825. Compared with other shared prices in autopriceshare, it seems have some room in this price. The dealer also recommends a 4 years prepaid maintenance plan to me, $2000. I am not sure about this price and want to get some suggestions from you.
1. around 9% off MSRP, is it a fair price? 2. What is the maintenance fee for GLK350? Should I pay $2000 for the 4 years prepaid maintenance plan? Thanks in advance

I own a bit a different vehicle - 2014 GLK250, and my discount was 10% and no destination fee, but it was with ED ( 7% standard + 3% from dealer). As far as maintenance it's hard to say, I do my oil change and little things (filters, blades, DEF, rotations) myself. The first Service A cost me $60, because I've alowed them to rotate tires for $29.99, so I think I already ahead of this game with pre-paid maintenance.
What I will definitely do is to buy extended warranty when time comes.

I know the rationale for an extended warranty and I've been guilty of buying them too. Having said that, they rarely pay off and a well known consumer magazine says they are a bad deal. My '10 GLK350 4Matic has been zero trouble in 83,000 miles so who knows?
Having said this now I fully expect some black swan event - maybe upchuck a piston or some such...

I spent 1500 in 4 years, but I did less than recommended or did some stuff myself.
By the book:
Service A 250-300 x2
Service B (incl. fluid flush and cabin filters) 500-600 x2
Tranny flush 400 x1
Air filters ... not sure what dealer charges.
So comes out to about 2000.
I would either ask for lower price or not pre-pay.
The only good thing about servicing at dealer, they may catch somethings that may get replaced under warranty and you have good documented maitenance history for resale.
GLK is pretty simple...you can do oil change for 60 bux yourself. Cabin filters are 15 bux and 15min job. Brake fluid flush is $30 bux if you have powerbleeder. The only somewhat complicated job is tranny flush, which I would let dealer do.

That price for a base GLK350 seems good. Truecar shows $36,012 with "Truecar certified" dealerships.
I purchased my GLK250 recently and the APPROXIMATE (can't remember exact dollars and cents) price breakdown on the GLK250 in San Francisco Bay Area is:
Service A: $650
Service B: $900
Service C: $650
Service D: $1400
Not sure if the service cost of a diesel engine is significantly more, but if it's nearly the same, then yes $2,000 is worth it, if you don't plan to do the services yourself.

I got quoted $320 at the MB dealer in Eugene, Or. When I added the time to get there (almost 280 miles round trip) I took it to a local shop that got the appropriate MB spec 229.51 oil, and a Mann filter and charged me less than $160 for the A service.
