Brake controller for 2013 factory tow package on GLK

I have a factory tow package on my 2013 GLK and can't seem to find out if it has a built in brake controller. Even the dealership couldn't answer. All the aftermarket controllers specify that they are not appropriate for a factory tow package. Does anyone know if my factory package has an integrated brake controller?

Welcome I do not believe it would unless you ordered it with it and I do not even know if it is an option.

If you're asking about the electric brake controller unit for heavy towing, it's not a part of our factory tow package. As far as I know, only some of the late models of pickup trucks come with the built-in electric brake controller otherwise you need to buy one and install under the dash.

Another thing is, I'm not quite sure if our factory hitch connector would provide enough voltage for the actual electric brake from the trailer. On my 2015 factory hitch 7-Way Connector, it shows one of the pin is for the electric brake, so I hope we can just plug in without further wiring setup. You can visit any RV/camping trailer dealers close to you, they should be able to give you more clear answer than Mercedes dealers.

Good luck.

GLK does not have controller pre-wiring like the ML/GL - since factory hitch is Class 1 - the ML/GL are Class III

You mean pre-wiring under the dash to hook up the controller? BTW our factory hitch is class II.

My apologies for typo - to my knowledge the GLK does not have brake controller pre-wiring like the ML/GL factory hitch package - at least that is what I have been told.

Take a strong flashlight - and look for a cable/rolled/up with blue sicket up near firewall above/around brake pedal - if it's there, it will be in that area routed in from the engine compartment..

If you want to go to brake controller - then on GLK use a wireless unit.. all to the good..
