Angry GLK 350 2010 Xenon light problem

Hello to all.

I'm a new member on this usefull forum and I'm coming with a new question.

This week the right side xenon light burned out. D1S 4300K. It started getting a rosy color before shut off. Then I got a message on the panel that my right crossing light was not operating.
I bought a pair of those lights and plugged a new one but it did not light. I tried the other one, samething. So I would like to know if there is a fuse that could have blown out at the same time of the light or if there is a separate ballast to drive the light I d'like to know where the hell they hided it and how to reach it.

I would greatly appreciate if somebody would be so kind as to help me with this problem.

Regards

If the bulb on the good side does not work when switching it from side to side then the ballast is the problem

Xenon light problem

Hi
Thank your for your advice.
Unfortunatly I can't see anything close to the bulb that looks like a ballast.
Here we currently have a snow storm that will probably stand late tonight.
Tomorrow I'm going to check for fuses 5 - 29 -30 - 31 - 32 it would be nice
and much less expansive fixinig the issue with a blown fuse.

If you have any idea where the right side ballast is hidden it would be great.

Thanks very much.

Xenons do burn out, I just haven't had one do so with 4 cars and as much as 75K on one of them. You are talking about Factory installed Xenons? They are not cheap to replace and if factory installed you probably won't see the ballast. After 7 year of great lighting bite the bullet and get it replaced by the dealer.

Thanks for your interest. I would have to bite my wallet!!! Though I will check
with a flexible fiber optic tool to find where the braided cable will lead me, I hope to the ballast, and try to fix this isue by myself because the closest dealer is at a little more than 400 km from my place.
Thanks

I don't know about the GLK but my CLK500 ballast was in the light housing, I had to remove the whole housing and take the light apart to get to it, I bought a used ballast to replace it with. I would swap bulbs and verify 100% that it is the ballast before doing this. I have seen other manufactures where the ballast was mounted on the bottom of the housing

Wow!!!! That look to be a big job. First I will check all the fuses possibly involved with the head lights and hope to find one blown out. Other wise it is going to be the pain in the ***
as you could say.
I will let you know the results of my investigation.
Tanks

Hi gang
I'm coming back to let you know the results of my researches.
First the xenon light control module, the ballast is located under the housing. You can touch it with the end of your fingers when reaching from the top but it is not easy.
To remove it you have to remove the wheel then the front part of the mud guard, then it is possible to reach it.
To remove it you have to unclip the light washer hose and take it off in order to be able to reach one of the retaining screws. There are 3 screws.
The MB part no. for this module is A2048703226 You can see the module following this link http://www.alibaba.com/product-detai...48.51.1.YiW27n
The MB local dealer sell it for 600$ can dollars before sale taxes an shipping. I ordered it on eBay New and unused from Germany for 155$ can dollars including delivery with 10 to 15 day for delivery. So I am very confident to fix my problem with elegance because mine was completly burnt. I opened it and just the smell was toxic
I hope to be helpful for someone.

At least the ballast was under the headlight and not inside the housing, it's not a hard job just time consuming.

I had aftermarket Xenon HID installed , the Philips units I bought, the Ballasts can overheat and don't fire up when you park with a hot motor , the heat is contained. I'd guess that's why some units are mounted where it is coolest in relation to the motor. The fenderwell
