Keyless Go Issues (always locking when going near car or opening door)

Anyone have issues with their keyless go features? Whenever our car is already unlocked and we try to open the door there by grabbing the door handle, the system confuses itself and locks. This results in the door latched on halfway opening.

Is this a normal issue?

Make sure you aren't getting your thumb or finger over the square antenna spot on the outside of the door handle when you are having the issue. Otherwise, the car thinks you are trying to lock it. I had that issue a couple of times when I first got the car and had to train myself to pull on the inside of the door handle when opening it. It's pretty easy to get your thumb over the front antenna spot when opening the door. From the car's perspective, the first input wins. If you thumb touches the antenna spot before it detects you hand on the inside of the door handle, it will try to lock.

If that doesn't solve your issue, you will probably have to go to the stealer and have them check out the antennas in the door handle. Do you have this problem on the any of the other doors or only the driver's door?

good point. since this happens on all doors it must be a habit that I need to break. Considering I'm so used to pressing the unlock button on my key fob first, then walking up to my car and grabbing the handle, I can see why it will lock up immediately

If it is a habit, the easiest solution might be don't use the unlock button on the fob. Just walk up and pull on the inside of the handle and it will open. That should prevent the car from becoming confused about whether it should lock or unlock.

The only time I use the unlock button is on the rare occasion when the fob battery is getting weak and touching the inside of the door handle won't unlock it.

I have this problem as well and can't determine is its user error or some kind of actual problem with the door handle, antenna, key fob, or what. Car will be unlocked and I walk up and the instant any part om my hand touches the handle it locks, so it seems. Each occurrence I am not thinking about it and am unable to determine if I hit the square or not with my hand.

I don't think it matters if you touch the square or not; touching any part of the outer door handle will lock the car.

You basically have to insert your 4 fingers behind the handle and pull it open that way, instead of grabbing the handle with the whole palm enclosed around both inner and outer sides. Not intuitive, I know, but you get used to it.

The square is the IR receiver for the "windows up/down" feature. Any contact between your hand and the outside surface of the handle will lock it.

Ok wow, my thumb will not lock the door by touch, however ANY of my other fingers work just fine!
