Power Stop

I just called the dealer for a brake kit. This is extorsion... They ask 1173$cad for the kit without the sensors (17.27$cad ea.).

I used to buy Power Stop for my Volvo and it was pretty good. The kit for my GLK is 383$cad (8 pads 4 discs)

Are they good for Mercedes as well or will they be more pain than anything else?

A lot of people like myself seem to like Akebono Euro pads which are low cost, low dust, and perform well for daily use. I used Centric/StopTech rotors as replacements and they are good.

Try Fcp euro, lifetime warranty on everything, even motor oil can be returned. I just got rear MB pads and sensors for a bit over 100$. Akibono are ceramic and don’t stop as well as metallic.

I'll probably go this avenue. With the Volvo I prefered rockauto but having a lifetime warranty seems like a good thing.

thanks

I am not too fund of ceramic pads, they are only good when hot. But this answer my question that should have been are other than dealer's parts are good for MB. On my Volvo anything else than the dealer's pad was somehow problematic (vibrations and sounds).

Thanks

Having switched from semi-metallic OEM pads to ceramic pads, let me tell you the difference in braking/stopping power is almost negligible. The only difference is maybe on that first or second brake application, the initial bite is somewhat lacking, but to me that's fine. I prefer a more progressive feel to the braking. After the first couple miles, the brakes work better in all conditions than stock components.

Also, nearly no brake dust to clean off my wheels every 2 days...

I've since switched my X3 to ceramics as well and that one stops even better while keeping the wheels clean. Nothing but ceramics for replacements.

YMMV

I guess it depend on which car, I didn't liked it with my Volvo. Anyways I ordered the oem kit from fcp euro, its ceramic, we'll see.
I can't wait to receive all my parts (brake kit, ball joints, tie rods, cabin air filter, coolant temp sensor, air cleaner intakes) and start working on it... I hope the weather will be favorable this weekend!

I've used EBC slotted rotors & red stuff brake pads all around when I first changed the brakes in 2014 and they were better than OEM. This summer I changed to Powerstop all around and I really like feel of it even better than the EBC's. Also they look really great and don't rust up because of the zinc coating. If you decide on Powerstop, definitely follow their break in procedure, otherwise it won't perform well.
