Mysterious beeping
Some of you may remember me from my horrendously long "Ack!" thread.
For the last couple of hundred miles of driving the GLK, on occasion, and with no consistency, I will hear a two beep signal (or is it three?)
I immediately look at the dash and nothing indicates what the vehicle is "warning" me about
It's similar to the "put your seatbelt on" warning, but I've got the seat belt on
Oil level is fine, coolant level fine, engine temp fine, tires inflated correctly, and so on ... as I mentioned, NOTHING on the dash suggests why the beeps occur.
It doesn't beep in a consistent manner, ie, not every 60 seconds or so ... I may drive 10 minutes and never hear it, or might drive for 5 minutes and hear it 2-3 times.
.
Any thoughts ?

Are you sure it is coming from the vehicle? Could it be your phone, or your dashcam?

We've had a similar issue on our BMW. Very mysterious. Even the dealer has no idea what it could be. No stored codes either.
P.S. Could it be your remote battery is low? You haven't driven the car in 7 months.

(for what it's worth, I did put the main 12v battery (under hood rear passenger side of engine compartment) on trickle charger for about two days and it did report "good")

If your phone is paired, It does something like that on an incoming text. Also, I've heard of NAV systems indicating when you pass a POI. Sometimes I long for the simplicity of cars with no computers.

Just by chance does your GLK have any type of crash avoidance features (Distronic)? I had a 2014 C63 that would chirp when it thought I was going to crash. Sometimes a car coming over a slight hill, random signs etc would all set it off.. Unless you are focused on the dash you won't see the light blink..

ah , gotcha ... I'll use the other key the next time I run errands, but yea, good idea for me get fresh batteries !!
I'll pay attention what's around me when it beeps. I myself have never specifically paired my phone , though my wife's phone is paired (though her phone wasn't in the vehicle)
However, the next time I hear the beeps, I'll check my phone - maybe it's somehow pairing on its own
No crash avoidance system I'm aware of, though I will double-check in the manual.
========
It's so odd ... for example, a couple days ago, I drove 30+ miles (mostly highway) to get it inspected (state inspection for yearly registration) ...no beeps.
I leave the inspection station and am driving around local city streets (35 mph streets with occasional stop lights) for about 20 minutes and it beeped about 6-8 times very randomly
Then I got on the freeway to head home , another 30 miles , averaging 65-70 mph, and it beeped, maybe twice.
And yesterday , driving local streets , with a stop at county tax office, and then grocery store, it beeped maybe 3-4 times very randomly.
Very perplexing. I'll replace the key fob batteries ... and when it beeps, I'll check my phone for any notifications.
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions !!

My NAV was doing that for the longest time! I asked dealership told me to pay attention to GPS whenever I hear a beep. Sure enough, there was a POI on a map - some are taken from a personal list some are auto-generated based on your route and school zones/intersections/speed limits, etc.

My 2015 E-Class does a loud "beep-beep-beep" when it is afraid that I will hit some unknown, unseen object -- like the big metal boxes on the roadside that house control systems for traffic signal lights, etc. It will also warn me if it thinks I am going to hit or be hit by another car. It all happens so quickly that I don't even see the red light that flashes on the dash. Silly light and system -- it just beeps, but gives you absolutely NO indication of what to look for or where.
I think it is part of the Collision Prevention Assist system, which is so "invisible" that you may not even know you have it.

This is definitely a POI signal. Somehow our house got inadvertently input as a POI, every time we approached (100yds or so away) from any direction we'd get this annoying beep. Had to go in and delete from the POI list. Pretty easy process.

I checked for POI entries but when I choose the "Navigation" option, it responds with , "No Navigation modules are installed".
I drove it yesterday about 20 miles ... no beeping.

Well, I got out in the GLK today to run errands.
I figured out the beeping noise. I hadn't noticed before, but as I parked and turned key off, I heard a faint tone, but not from the dash area.
That's when I had the "ah ha" moment. Under the front passenger seat is a portable Garmin that is usually suction cupped to the windshield, and been plugged in this whole time to a switched power plug behind the center console.
I bought it when my wife was driving the E320, then when I got her the GLK, the Garmin moved to it, since the GLK doesn't have navigation.
So the beeping are various warnings, such as "you're speeding", like in the image.

Glad you figured it out but I got a little confused here so you are saying it was plugged in and fell under the seat, unless I am missing something (I am pretty sure I am though, sorry about that) wouldn't it be obvious that it is missing from the windshield, how could you not notice?
Completely forgot it was in the GLK. 👍
(out of sight, out of mind, esp at my age)

The GLK has been sitting in garage for months recently, and even before that, I think the wife put it down on the rear passenger floorboard, so it would be out of site (at grocery store /etc), so no doubt slid up underneath front passenger seat
