OH OH, I messed up

Last year I did my B1 service and reset the alert. Here it is a year later and I did my A service, and here's what I did. Once I got the Ayssist open I scrolled looking for A service, but was in the B's. I kept scrolling down and ended up on B5. Trying to get to the A's I clicked OK. Now I show my B5 due in 365 days. HOW do I get it back to the A's and reset the B's to B1?

Why do you care? Driving 7 year old car, you should probably have your own maintenance schedule if you want to make it last.

It doesn’t matter. Just maintain the car per the mfr specifications. ASYST is irrelevant.

(Off topic a little)
Can someone give me a brief summary of the service numbering system? There is no mention of A and B services in my maintenance booklet. Is A1 the same service as A2, A5, etc? Is A1 the first time, and A5 the fifth time? Do they alternate A and B?

Assuming all the above is correct, what tasks make up the A and B services?

TIA,

The maintenance booklet relevant to a particular model is the definitive source. A1/B1 etc mean nothing. The maintenance booklet spells out what is needed, and when it is needed.

While not an MB site, here is some info:

I remember distributors, points, carburetors, 3 on the tree and when the roads weren’t crowded. My dad remembered mechanical brakes and when the roads were built. His dad never had a car and didn’t have much use for roads, anyway.

The beat goes on…

I'm thinking of a chart with mileage milestones across the top and maintenance tasks down the left hand side. A check in the box at the intersection of each meant it was due, and, if you wanted to "reset" the clock you just picked the nearest column with the most checks and did all those tasks.

I think some dealerships actually still have those little cards they hand out reminding you of services due I read it in the forum a couple months back otherwise there are also those that gets stuck to the windshield as a reminder. I do believe there are still Service Booklets for certain MY of vehicles that came with the owner's manual and you can then write down what is the service performed, when was it performed and by whom it was performed.

I have the booklet for the GLK, and I think I have one for the GLS, too (just came off dealer maintenance). The problem is, there's no single place to look to find out what is due at a particular mileage. If it's, say, 75,000 miles, you have to look at the "every 15,000", "every 25,000", and 75,000, at least, to get the complete picture. And, of course, if you just got the car, you have to worry about whether or not the 60,000 mile list was completed or not. Oh, yeah, and then there are the "OM 651 only" items...

I guess the thing for me to do is go through the booklet one time and make my own chart.

That is true, and if you are the original owner then you know what is and what is not done, then you can ask for the service items list from forum member konigstiger, if you are not the original owner you need to go to the dealership and ask for a vehicle master inquiry and it will list all the work that was performed at the dealership.

It was not dealer maintained for at lest some of the time before I got it. I have the carfax, but it's sketchy.

All I'm saying is I wish there was an easy way to see what maintenance tasks are scheduled at what intervals, at a glance. These are the first cars I've had that didn't have a easy to read chart.

Here's an example:

If I have this chart, and I don't know what the maintenance history is, I can say "I'll just d everything in the 75,000 mile column, and check the fuel lines, and make a clean start from there. (There is a second page, so I'm just using it as an example.)

(This is from the car I had before the GLK.)

Yup, ask forum member konigstiger for a copy of it for your vehicle and your model year.

MB service per the booklet is super simple. They make list long by bunch of useless "checks".
I always thought the number next to letter indicates things like trans fluids or air filter and other less frequent items.

Thanks, but the download "failed to load" several times. I did get some tips and reset my A service for another year, which is fine because that's an easy reminder. I also put it on my phone calendar, but sometimes phones die or lose information.

However, I still don't know if, or how I can roll back the B5 I accidentally clicked on to the B1 I had done last year at 58k.

Thanks for any or all help.

You can't "undo" any service you confirmed as done in the cluster.

Just make a note of it for future reference so that you can do that service at the right time/mileage, then reset the service info in the cluster at the appropriate time.
