2014 with dreaded driver seat damage

Hello everyone! I acquired a new to me low mileage 2014 GLK 350 with the Artico black vinyl/leather. One of the seams has let loose and I would like to replace it.

I saw on this forum someone has replaced theirs with the OEM ones, but has anyone had luck with any 3rd party supplied ones? I saw there are a few options between Amazon/Ebay.

Mine has heated seats as well. They still work even though the seat is damaged.

Thanks!

I got mine from Richmond Auto Upholstery. https://leather-auto-seats.com/produ...odel-year=2014

Perfect match with the original. Leather and vinyl.

That's good to know! I was looking at them specifically. My thoughts were, how does the genuine leather replacement ones they supply match up with the Artico vinyl from Mercedes?

If you're saying they match up perfectly then that gives me hope!

As good as some aftermarket ones may be, the colour and texture will not be 100% spot on and you will see it every time you get in and out. Maybe not your passengers but you will. Some also have heated seats built into the seat. I changed my driver side seatcover and decided to spend the extra 100 and get OEM with the heater already installed. Made the change pretty quick and easy and now it looks like its brand new.

I ordered mine from Mercedes Benz of Birmingham and it was perfect and not very expensive. Less than $200.

That's much cheaper than any sites I can see online. Is this a phone in order?

Yes. This was a few years ago though so I don't have any idea what the price would be now. I think the seats are the same as a C-Class...just make sure you get heated if your GLK has them.

You got me thinking. I wonder if I order the 3rd party one from Richmond auto, will my heated seats not work anymore? Is the element built into the seat or the seat cover ?

You use the existing heater on the new seat cover. It's a bit of a task but worth it. The OEM seat cover will fail in the same way the original did. The Richmond is leather on the side panels.
