Best Phone Mount for GLK

Hello All,

I am curious if anyone has found a bolt in solution for a phone mount in a GLK?
Do any of the Rennin products for other Mercedes models work?

Thanks in advance for any input you have.

I just bought a 2015 Glk 250 Bluetec with similar issue. Currently, i have the phone upright on the retractable console cover leaning against the air controls.
I’ve looked into several options.
1. Windshield glass mount - ugly with dangling cord over radio and ac vents
2. Dash mount - surface material can’t hold suction and dangling cord
3. Long flexible coiled conduit mount up from ashtray outlet - ugly but no dangling cord and you’ll have to keep retractable console open all the time.
4. Put in front of AV screen - can’t see what you’re doing with radio or other commands.

I’m still searching for best solution.

My passenger and I use the front cup holders since the car doesn’t have additional ones in the front doors.

Air vent magnet phone holder. Looks very sleek.
Something like this:
Amazon Amazon

Your phone case has to have a magnet in it. Or you can stick a magnet to the back of your phone.

Thanks! This will work perfectly. In fact the holder is made to fit the GLK dash design.

This works well with straight horizontal vent blades. Unfortunately, my 2015 GLK 250 have round vents like an SLK.

It may be made to fit the GLK dash but I don't really like the fact that it covers an entire vent pod basically. And your phone will certainly cover up the rest of the vent.

They also have a left A-pillar mount style but I'm not sure if that would interfere with side/curtain airbags deploying during an event.

They look good though, and are priced decent.

I was really hoping that someone would know of a Rennin product that bolts in like this:

But the ProClip solution looks decent so I will give it a try... Thanks All!

You’re absolutely right. And if you move it to the right it will cover the hazard lights button. 🤦‍♂️
perhaps I can find (or make) a non destructive clamp or clip that attaches to the lip of the dashboard above the screen and add a swivel type phone holder on top of it. Sorry I’m out of the box and in the weeds.

I bit the bullet and purchased ($80+) a Pro Clips phone holder. It works well and made of good materials. i placed it as far right possible on the vent so it's partially covered and not completely covering the Emergency Lights button. It works for me and I'll keep it. The only drawback is the infotainment screen is partially blocked by the phone (not much). I have an SE 2nd Generation which is not very long, but be cautious using this with longer (larger?) phones. You can alway turn it horizontally.

I have 2 GLKs. We have the phone mount that tightens into the CD player. Our phone cases have a metal piece on the back so the magnet holds the phone tight. Also, we can swivel it around anyway we wish.

The best phone mount I found are custom made for the GLK called ProClip. Check out their website ProClip.com. It’s been working well with my GLK 250.

Here is a phone mount similar to the proclip, but doesn't block a vent or the hazards.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005872324869.html

I ordered it and installed it and seems ok so far. Maybe buy two in case something breaks.

In my W204 my phone mount fits into the vents. Its inexpensive and basic but I really like it. Has the wireless charging and the arms automatically open and close. Only thing I dont care for is when shutting off then restarting the car it opens automatically, so the phone falls out unless manipulate the arms again though its easy. So the phone doesnt overheat I just close the vent its in.

I would love to figure out a way to hard mount my Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-S instead of the suction cup mount. It stays on for the most part except if im parking facing the sun then it pops off, even in winter. I am really surprised the Garmin still works and the screen isnt cracked with how many times its fallen off. The DriveAssist is a great unit, it shows the posted speed limit with my speed right below it and it is very accurate. Then it beeps if going over the posted limit which I like. I find it very easy to speed in the car since it drives so smooth. Plus half the time im not really paying attention and would have no idea the speed limits on the roads, the backroads around here are always changing speed limits, 35 up to 50, then down again to 40. The main reason i got the DriveAssist is it has a built-in dash cam. I wanted a dash cam more so to protect myself against any bogus traffic tickets. same with wanting a phone mount right on the dash, so i can easily turn the phone on and start recording if i ever get pulled over. I also have an inexpensive dash cam mounted in the rear window.

Wonder if i can somehow find a clamp to mount the dash cam to where the rear view mirror mounts.

How does the Garmin DriveAssist "know" the posted speed limit?

I dont know how it works, but it is accurate. I'll be driving and come up on a sign where the speed limit changes and it changes on the nav unit. It warns of upcoming railroad crossings, school zones, even deer crossings. Sometimes ill get warnings for speed traps, a notification will pop up with the location and then ask me if the cop was still there. i dont have it connected to wifi though I do have the power cord to receive live traffic, which is fairly accurate. On the highways the route will turn red or yellow depending on traffic and accidents.

Ill get notifications for crash warnings, when traffic is moving etc. I think that works with the dash camera.

It's gotta be in the database.

I remember coming across a photo of a W204 that had the posted speed limit shown right on the dash display, looked like it was on the facelift display. I know it wont do it on mine, a 2010 without built-in nav. I did a little more searching just know out of curiosity and theres info on how the cars camera reads the signs and thats how they get the info. Its MB Traffic Sign Assist.

With the garmin im not sure if it uses the camera to read the signs since all the other new Garmin Nav unit seem to show the posted speed limit and they dont have the built-in dash cam. Must be updated with the software, seems theres a new map update quite often. For a few months I remember the Garmin was still showing the old previous exit numbers on a highway they worked on, then after a map update the exit numbers were changed.
