Glk 350 transmission

So I have a 2011 glk 350 with the a89 code meaning 722.9 plus (updated version ) anywho I believe my torque converter is bad or going bad first through 3rd gear are fine when driving normally but when u really get on it . It studders a bit and seems to slip and the rpm’s bounce around like crazy like it can’t stay in gear car is drive able but trying to see if it’s the converter ALSO if I were to just swap the transmission could I get by with swapping over my tcm and valve body to avoid reprogramming the new unit ?

How many miles on the car?
Has the transmission ever been serviced or fluid changed?
As long as the new transmission is the same generation and same options, you should be able to swap the electronics and make it work.

The truck only has 148k on the dash the transmission is from a 2012 e350 722.9 plus same as mines with about 95k miles on it but I’m pretty sure my torque converter is what went bad because the car is drives me and doesn’t slip getting in gear it slips trying to get the power to the transmission

So would it be better to just do the converter job or just pay the 500 for the 90k mile transmission the torque converter is about 150 and 250 to get put in?

Transmission fluid on these GLKs should really be changed more often, especially since it's shared with torque converter. 50k km.

I changed at 120k km, at 150k km did it again and the oil was black, lots of sediment at the bottom of the pan.

Did another flush at 170k and oil was black again with sediment, but better. I assume there was a lot of varnish/build-up in the transmission that was still getting cleaned out.

It's too bad they didn't design the transmission pan for an easy drain... Weistec makes a replacement pan that is much improved, worth the upgrade if yours is rusty.

FWIW, the factory recommendation is 40,000 miles (64,000km) for the 2010 and non-A89 optioned 2011, and 70,000 miles (112,000km) for the A89 optioned 2011 and all 2012 and newer models. There's nothing wrong with doing more frequent changes, but the fluid in the high-mileage GLKs I've worked on looks great even at or beyond the suggested change interval.

Also, on the 4Matic, the "transfer case" (really more of an integral part of the transmission) shares the fluid as well, though it doesn't change the total capacity much.
