2013 GLK250 (X204) – Aftermarket "drop-in" TPMS sensors won't pair – Need advice
Recently I bought a brand-new set of aftermarket 433 MHz sensors (different brand). Had them mounted during a tire change + alignment. The shop can see the sensor IDs on their scan tool, but they cannot get the sensors to communicate with the factory ECU. They tried for over an hour with multiple tools. The car never starts the relearn procedure, even after driving 30+ miles.
My questions:
- For a 2013 GLK250 Bluetec, do ANY aftermarket 433 MHz “direct-fit / pre-programmed / cloneable” sensors truly work as drop-in with the automatic relearn procedure, or do ALL aftermarket sensors require cloning the original OEM sensor IDs or a dealer-level programming step?
- If they must be cloned or programmed, is the dealer the only one who can do it, or can a good independent with Star/Xentry or a high-end Autel/Tec/Launch tool do it?
- I’ve been in the hidden instrument cluster menus and there is no visible TPMS relearn option. Is that normal for the X204?
Anybody with a 2012–2015 GLK who has successfully installed aftermarket TPMS, please let me know which exact part number/brand you used and whether you had to clone or just drive it.
Thanks in advance!

Here's the one listed after your post, and there are some recommendations for TPMS there.
( although it's for E-Class (W213) 2016 - 2023 )

1st time was when a sensor battery died. I bought a generic sensor on ebay and it worked perfectly. had a tire shop swap it out and it linked up to the car within driving 2 minutes. It was automatic and I did not have to do anything.
After that I found a seller on ebay selling Mercedes "new-take off sensors" so I bought 4 and they work perfectly. I originally just bought 1 to replace a dead sensor myself. Then shortly after another sensor died so i repeated the process. I swapped the sensors myself using a floor jack to push the tire off the rim and was able to stick my hand inside and replace them.
Then I was having 4 new tires installed so I had the generic sensor replaced with a Mercedes branded sensor, and had the last old sensor replaced.
heres what the generic sensor looked like. Its not the exact listing i bought from.
Heres the exact listing for the MB sensors I bought and have installed right now: Even though they were listed as new I went ahead and bought the Schrader rebuild kits to replace the stem, nuts, gasket, cap and valve core.
