gls550 price discount for order in Texas - cross comparing to q7
MSRP $108,060. Very nice guy on the phone who I spoke with said after a few minutes conversation, best they can do to be fair to both parties is 4.5% off ($4,862) MSRP (103,200 + ttl). I can come in this week and modify options, put down non-refundable deposit, and it will be in production later this year with delivery mid December.
I read elsewhere on forum that 6% can be had for ordering, $1600 difference based on this vehicle, before I come in...do you think this is the case, I should push more for 6% or cross-compare quote to another dealer, or 4.5% is great?
All in all - the price is staggering...compared to other car that is in stock we considered, Q7 Prestige with every option package/box checked (Luxury/Adaptive Chassis/Driver Assistance/Cold/B&O sound), is $85,300 MSRP and can get $4500 off from dealer in Austin Texas (80,600 + ttl) - the GLS is ~24k extra price difference including tax and about $1k/year extra in gas.
We haven't been able to really determine which one is safer or which has more safety options or nice to haves that we aren't able to figure out by just comparing test drives and reading brochure....
We have a 12yo boy/5yo girl/5mo boy (

What do ya'll think?

The Audi has been a great vehicle, but it is noticeably smaller. We love the way it drives, it is very comfortable and the diesel spoiled us getting close to 600 miles per fill up. Really no complaints about the vehicle itself.
The GLS, while it drives nicely, you can tell it is bigger than the Audi. I feel the interior in the MB is nicer too. The rear seating is noticeably roomier, and I think an adult could actually sit in the 3rd row.
Some other things to consider - since you mentioned fuel costs, price aside, the range on a tank of fuel with the larger motor in the 550 was a show stopper for us. When we go skiing we need to get there on 1 tank, would have actually preferred the diesel but I think we will just eek it out with the 450.
Second, if you haven't tried loading your kids in both vehicles yet, go do it and I think that would give you your answer on MB vs Audi.
I think the question you should be asking yourself is weather the premium on the V8 550 is worth it to you over the 450.
You can find pricing advice in several threads but unfortunately it varies by region and date. Best advice is to request quotes from several dealers at end of month on the same build. Much easier than comparing cars on the lot which often have different options. 6% discount is not ridiculous but will take some work.
