SORRY! One shouldn't have these issues with a vehicle at this price range. I can feel your disappointment and apin. The quality control of MBUSA has declined steadily. This is a sad sad thing. Hyundai is putting out a more solid and reliable product for half the cost. SAD!

It's not normal that a brand new car has some many faults... And they all seem to come from different systems. Maybe the car was damaged somehow, like by a thunderstorm or some some magnetic field close to the main computers. I can understand that a car has 1, maybe 2 issues, but every single item throwing a code... A friend of mine had a similar issue with a 2009 GL. He kept having electronic issues until he discovered that his car had been flooded in the past (it was a second hand) and there was still a puddle of water below the seat, and some computers were just bathing in that filth.

Quote: The outcome; Mercedes Benz Australia refuses to refund. My dealer will do so or order a new car, but asks to try & fix.

6 weeks later the car is returned after finally getting it to fault at the dealership.
Rebuild trans with new valve body & other bits.

So far so good....

However it....
Comes back with the air recirculation light coming on at start, going off after 20 seconds of driving & coming back on when you stop.

The coolant expansion tank light comes on, nearly empty & now I smell hot anti freeze smell

About another 1/2 dozen intermittent faults, like Bluetooth audio volume not working sometimes, wipers just wiping on auto when screen is dry, most of the radio stations show the same tuning frequency and the presets sometimes don't work, door locks again, and still can't set the hatch height limit near the top of its travel.

The dealer tries, but with such a piece of **** they are in for the long haul.
And so am I!

Mercedes Benz Australia keep sending surveys out asking how much I'm enjoying the car.
Mercedes Benz Australia would have to easily be the worst company I have ever had dealings with.

Can't really see us ever buying another Merc.......
I also live in Australia, and am about to purchase a 7 seater SUV. I had been considering a Volvo XC90, but have been wary due to many complaints and teething problems on early builds. So I was thinking about a GLS, which is similar in price to the top XC90 models.

After reading this thread, I am starting to think that the XC90 is less of a risk. And certainly MB Australia and the dealer have done little to enhance their reputation. They should be ashamed of the quality of this vehicle and the inconvenience suffered by an owner who has paid over $150,000 for this truck.

I doubt that I have ever seen a new vehicle with more faults or worse customer service than this. Shame Mercedes-Benz, shame. This is not the way to sell more cars.

cheers

The engine is very strong but when you are driving the car for at least an hour and a half the transmission down shifts and then will not shift as you accelerate. The only way I found to fix this for the time being is to pull over shut it down and restart. I think it resets computer and then it works fine until about 2 hours later and it repeats itself. I think the problem is in the computer. It might get to hot or there is a glitched..I just bought this from a private person. I also read that some of the newer models have the same problem....this should not be happening to any of us. Then I have the idiot light that comes on (left of the check engine light) when I put on my brakes and sometimes it flashes when I am driving. Does anyone else have the same in older and newer models?????

Had the same weird “front suspension groans when doing a left had turn at slow speeds” issue after the dealer fixed an “active curve malfunction” message on my U.S. 2017 GLS450. I set up an appointment for the dealer to look at I but at my dealer it sometimes takes 10 days to secure a loaner and in that time period the “groans” went away. All seems to be working ok now. Luckily, I’ve not had your other issues.
