2019 GLS 400 D shudder
My Gls 400 D seems to shudder every now and then. It’s very sporadic - can happen three times in a row or it can happen once a month. It shakes as I’m accelerating no matter how fast I’m going. It can also shake going up a hill going down a hill or on a flat road.

Have taken it into the Mercedes dealer a couple of times and they failed to find the problem.

Please help.

My recommendation is to stay away from any passenger MB with the OM642 engine. Good luck to you.

I would say check your motor mounts and trans mount.

Do a search on this forum or Google and the returns will be just about endless. There was also a forced extended warranty from MB on the emissions equipped OM642. A short list is they are known for going through timing chains frequently, frequent oil cooler leaks which is an extremely time-consuming job, and lots of emission component issues.

You may be right. There isn't much available on it, but, the only information I can find on the 2019 GLS 400D indicates it debuted in 10/2019 and is a X167.

Hmmm, so it is this diesel engine specific, what about other MB diesels?

Keep in mind it is not uncommon that Europe gets a new generation one model year earlier than North America.
