GLS Maybach

I’m currently between a new gls 63 when released, or getting a Range Rover SVAutobiography. At one point I almost did the urus but it’s to small I feel. Today I test drove the new GLE ( wife’s getting it )and I thought it was perfect for a E class but not an S class. The dealer said they saw a GLS yesterday and for the most part said it’s just a bigger GLE ( a-little disappointing ). I was wondering if anyone saw pictures or heard anything about the GLS maybach that’s coming out. The one thing the S class has ( I had a s63 ) and the Range has is leather everywhere. Including the lower parts of the doors. I’m hoping maybe the maybach has it or the 63 when out.

Merc one day I hope
The main thing I think I heard about the Maybach is that it will be the most expensive road car manufactured in the US. So $$$$$$$

I’ve seen close to no information on the new Maybach version of the GLS. The GLS 580 is far from an S class interior, and I don’t expect the 63 to improve that. So yeah, I would be interested to see if they finally make an S class interior in the GLS with the Maybach.

Yup that’s all I heard also. I’m hoping they can finally make it an S class. However, to make it cost 200 k I’m curious to see how great it will be and when it will finally coming out. Close to pulling the trigger on the range but still holding off.

You can order on the 580 the upgraded designo Nappa leather 958A, which comes with the Dinamica headliner and also the U38 to get the dash and door beltlines in Nappa leather.

Lower door panels are still hard plastic, though.

That's my thing. In the s class it’s leather at least. Yes, you pay for it as an option but I at least think the gls should have that option.

Even the GLE should have that option. I don't think only the largest vehicles should have the exclusive options. A GLS is too big for us.

I agree. At least offer it and give the buyer the option. Other brands do, Mercedes really should.

Just checked with my buddy and told they are being worked on in the building next to him and do have test cars running around. I will keep an eye out more for them as a number of test cars are always around my area.

It wouldn't cost much to upgrade the interior of the GLS to S class levels if it were done to all the cars. It could be done with less than 10K increase in cost. Economy of scale. Mercedes must not see demand for such an interior when cost is considered. Maybe the thought of your 2 and 3 year olds flinging ketchup across your beautiful interior dissuades you from having such a nice cabin.

I wish MB would focus on luxury-level V-classes in the USA. I think there is a market for a luxury minivan.

It really wouldn’t. It can be just an option to still offer people. I don’t need 3 rows, but I like larger SUV’s with an inside of an s class. Maybe for the 2021 year an option will come out , or for the maybach

Ok a few details from pics I was shown of a test car. I did my best on my phone to draw on suspected renderings so give me a break here on that.

Front grill as all know from other pics will have the Star logo worth the MAYBACH name across the top portion which is the reason for the space above it in pics.

The lower front bumper is kind of 580ish i feel but where it’s black mesh on the Maybach it will be a shiny silver. Same goes for the window trim on the sides of the pillars a shiny silver color.

The sides of course will feature elec retractable steps that really blend in well to the side mounding.

In the rear the exhaust tips reminded me of the 13-15 GL550 tips but split horizontally.

The wheels on the one shown were blacked out prod wheels but resembled the Land Rover Stomer wheels. Not exact of course but not too far off from the design

Apparently the GLS Maybach gets revealed tomorrow. I’m very interested to see this, as I’m cross shopping with the new 2021 Bentley Bentayga

I’m buying a Bentayga W12 next week, so will be interested too, especially how it compares to my GLS63 with old-school COMAND.

The Aston Martin DBX is a new entry in the field, slightly larger than the Bentayga, with a Mercedes powertrain and electronics. Perhaps a little more performance-oriented than the Bentley.

The DBX is a do-or-die for Aston. I can’t see many buying it given their tentative future.

I really want the Bentayga to get the interior update akin to the new Flying Spur. That would be an awesome luxury SUV.

yup. I love my 63 but my wife is getting the new GLE 450 so I’m probably getting the 2021 bentayga. Orders possibly open next month for August.

While I think it’s very nice, I just don’t think it warrants a 200k price tag. Maybe 170range. I’m guessing it’s exclusive nappa, but is that sound system any different the the upgraded one? Surprised it still doesn’t have night vision or a more powerful v12 option to compete with the bentayga. Still leaning towards the 2021 bentayga, but this does make it harder. I think the back seat came out amazing. It’s really nice. Unfortunately I spend the time up front and use a car service when I need to. Airport ect. I’m not sold on how different the front is vs a loaded 63 ect. Part of me feels these options ( excluding the rear seat and trunk ) should have been options like the S class. Upgraded leather throughout ect.

I'm underwhelmed. I guess I was hoping for a redesign of the front dash with a better integration of the display panels. The Bentayga is in a different class. The GLS is a much larger vehicle.

Agrees. I was truthfully hoping for the same. I love the GLS, I love my 63 but at the same time I want that luxury. The back seat is very nice, but I’m in the front normally. I love the dual screens especially for a E class, but I also wish for more integration with the dash. Like the current S. The bentayga is a different class, but you can get a nicely equipped V8 for 180-190. Which will probably be in a similar price point to this.
