Question Speed limit and other queries

I took delivery of a GLS450 a couple of weeks ago. Generally pleased but a have a number of queries that the dealer is not getting back to me about.

1. Speed limit
I can’t find a way to display the current speed limit on the console. This information usually comes from the navigation system. I have had this on my last 3 cars so would be surprised if doesn’t feature on the MB. I am not talking about speed limit assist which I don't have, but is it possible to add speed limit assist retrospectively?

2. Hands free trunk open/close
This seems to be inconsistent, occasionally working. I keep kicking to the left of center, but nothing happens apart from looking like an idiot!

3. Profile memory
My wife and I have our own profiles. On selecting my profile the seat doesn’t always move into memorized position. Not a big deal as I can use the door control but that is after getting squashed by my wife's short person position when I start the engine!

Thanks
Simon

2020 GLS
1. Don't no - can't comment

2. When I was looking at a 2020 GLS at the dealer, I tried the hands free tail gate on a model with the tow package. The left side was intermittently responsive also. Thought it was just my technique but now wonder. My GLS is still in production so I haven't tried it any further, but I am curious how responsive it will be or sensitive to technique.

3. Hopefully they can service that and correct it soon

2019 E450 Cabriolet, 2020 GLS450
I don’t own a GLS but we have one on order (is that like “I’m not a nuclear physicist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night???)..... but I own a 2019 E450 Cab. So dash design is almost the same.

For the speed limit... do you have speed limit assist turned on? The speed limit shows up in the speedometer circle (on standard and sport) and on the bottom on progressive. However, if it doesn’t know the limit or hasn’t read a sign, it won’t show up at all. I guess what I’m saying is I don’t think it just shows what MB’s maps say the limit is, it has to “see” it in the camera

Thanks for the replies.
I do have the tow bar package. It will be interesting to hear from anyone else with a 2020 GLS regarding the hands free tail gate.
Regarding the speed limit. I don't have speed limit assist (but would like it if available as a retro fit - is this possible?). I was still expecting the limit to be displayed from the map data.

The Speed Limit Assist is a $295 option code 513. I did order this and it seems to be always displaying and don't think i can turn it off if i wanted.

This is probably a money maker option which the dealer can probably program it on at a cost. If you forgot to click this option you should ask the dealer to see if they can enable this.

What you have experienced is exactly what most GLE owners have - it is very flaky.

Thanks for the replies. My dealer is slow in getting back to me on any queries.
Disappointing to hear the GLE has similar issue I wonder if related to having the tow hitch.

Yes it is. Prior generation GLE with the hitch didn't have handsfree. The sensor was obscured by the hitch.
On the new one, the straight ahead kick on the left side of the hitch seems to work best.

In case it helps someone else, my dealer gave me following reply today:
The speed limit assist is a factory option only. It can’t be added afterwards.

In my experience it is working good, I think you must have all doors closed and smart key must be behind the vehicle?
