Rear seat entertainment

Any chance we order get these from the parts dept? Looks plug and play to me. The Canadians have this as an option and I quite like the size, mbux integration, and touchscreen aspect of them.

How much are those? More importantly, do those have iPad-like functionality (i.e. keyboard, web, email, video, ap download) or are they just very expensive DVD players?

This been a very helpful thread. About to purchase a 2021 450, but our search started with the new fancy Tahoes (Escalade/Yukon Denali). As gimmicky (and annoying) as it probably is in real use, my 11 year old was excited at the idea of getting one of those because he could look at the car's nav (like using the map on an airplane) and send directions to the front. More practical, the ability to let him input with his ipad and then screen mirror to our 4 year old and watch stuff together was appealing.
So on the one hand the idea of MBUX screens like ones available in Canada posted earlier (and I guess these are also in the S class?) would be appealing. Assume they are wireless for 2021 models? Though not sure how they are powered if attached to the headrest in 2021 models? But I also agree with others that over the life of the car - especially if you keep it a while - the kids' tablets will keep pace better with technology vs. any manufacturer rear entertainment system. Plus, spend a couple hundred dollars on the official tablet holders and light up the car internet -- you will still be ahead a decade later. Shared car nav is cool but google maps will be good enough. Not sure how screen mirroring can be accomplished - perhaps on interstates they can have a Zoom meeting with each other? I can already see the first time my kids will facetime each other to ask a question across the 2nd row.
Last summer we purchased these for our road trips and they have been very functional. Serve as both ipad holder and trays for all the "food through the window." over the past year. So ideally want something similar but nicer for the new car. It looks like the Style and Travel system is pretty easy to snap in and out - thinking I will buy 2 tablet holders and 2 folding trays (it says something about a safety hazard for the folding trays being out during driving - otherwise would only need them). And it looks like the equivalent for 2021 is the Style and Travel - Headrest Restraint series. Here is a video I found similar to the one earlier but where you now have to snap into a base support on the headrest vs. the pre-wired hole that is no longer there (the part maalox was describing):
I think I will be ordering 2x each of these... just hope the tablet holder can accomodate the Otterbox Defenders on our kid's iPads.

I paid a total of $116.51 including shipping, which was the lowest price I could find online. I'll ship it for any reasonable price below that.

Now that I have my car and have seen the seats, I do not think the parts I posted will work. I think they are actually the system for 2017 - 2019 models. If you go up the thread and look at the picture from Canada, while those have the holes, also look at the headrests and how the seat back comes above the level of the adjustable head restraint bars - which are actually recessed a bit forward. The base could still be installed on the 2021 adjustable restraint bars but not sure the tablet holder or desk would fit properly - I.e. have enough length in their arms to click in? Or if the base can be installed high enough to allow clearance of the seat top?
I did find a press release on the 2021 GLS claiming rear entertainment prewire is standard. Wonder if a new system will be coming? Or is the way it is worded “& comfort” mean it is prewired for the executive setup with the tablet in the middle?

Would you mind telling me how did you hardwired it? Did you pay a professional for it? Did you use the pre-wired feature to give it power? Thank you.

i actually went to bestbuy and the auto install team did it! Awesome job. They tied into the accessory fuse in the back side trunk panel and wired it to the back of driver and passenger seat. Cost me around $100 install which was awesome price!

Are you aware of this fits the 580? I would assume so, but website says it doesn’t fit Same scenario with aftermarket sites.
I've spent the past few months benefiting from the insights of others as I awaited my GLS450 (which was ordered in November and came in February). I have 2 kids the are glued to their iPads and have done extensive research on the MB entertainment tablets as well as many of the MB mounts. As an aside, my dealer had almost 0 knowledge of any of these mounts and says he never sells them or the monitors (Very large volume dealership). Recommended my kids hold their own tablets, which is not what I wanted...What I recommend that anyone interested in a mount get is:
A 000 827 2200
Has a release button on the side.
Can be resized to fit any larger tablet. (Don't think it can be made small enough to fit a smaller Fire tablet or iPad mini). Does NOT draw power from the slot.
Can be rotated to have a vertical orientation of the tablet.
The mount one the back of the door magnetically unlocks when you put the mount in to insert it and re-locks when they are removed.
My kids absolutely LOVE these things, and it prevents their necks from being strained on longer trips.

Hi all, I recently purchased a 2020 GLE450, it has the seat sockets option (option 866). I purchased a set of 11.6” android screens that plug into the sockets from eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284161281293). The design is the same as the newer style MB rear screens, they look good. The display screen can be adjusted to have Mercedes appearance.
My question for those with the factory MB screens, or aftermarket like mine, do they turn off when you turn off the vehicle? Mine stay on forever (if you turn them on). I’m concerned if a passenger turns on the screen, and I don’t check it’s turned off when leaving the vehicle, I will come back to a flat battery. I’ve tested it for about 3 hours with the car locked, and the screens are still turned on.

Selling iPad Holders
Hello All,
I'm selling the same iPad holders I previously posted 3 years ago about. They are awesome but purchased when my kids were older and quickly outgrew them. We sold our GLS for a larger car due to different needs and selling the holders now.
This is a link to one of them.

Thanks!
