Recent experience with a Fitcamx (dashcam) installed on X167?
Has anybody installed that dashcam? How was the install? Are you still happy with the camera? What do you like/dislike? Any problems? There are not many reviews on Amz so I wanted to check with real people who are using it

Thanks in advance for sharing what you can.

It looks fairly new with only two reviews in Amazon so I doubt anyone here would have it in their cars already.

man’s if you have driving assist, you have to make sure you get the right version as if they have both driving assist and no driving assist version.
i had it since January. Bought my car in December.

not sure where that loop recording is. Do you mean inside fitcamx menu?

Where does the camera get its power source?
Is it only from the single plug?
.
the hardest thing I would say is the first initial attempt to take out the plastic cover of the car worrying that it may break.
start with 1 angle (check video I forgot if it’s left or right side) and then jiggle it, then push downward facing the front.
Thanks.

after purchase, the seller messaged me and I provided info what option I need.
you can also reach out to them on email first and let them know to ensure they mail you the right version.
they asked me to take picture of my upper console before they ship out. I emphasized that I ad that additional camera in upper console.

You'll need either Option C or D depending upon the options on your vehicle. I ordered directly through them, and as noted like Amazon, they'll email you to confirm and you can send them a picture of your current setup to make sure it is correct.
I have a ROVE dash camera right now and it runs while the car is parked and off as long as the ROVE is plugged in.
I parked the car and did not use it for two weeks (with the ROVE plugged).
After two weeks my battery was drained and it had to be towed to my dealership.
Now I know there are 48V battery issues that plague the GLS line so it could not be related to the ROVE dash cam.
But it also could be a reason why the battery drained; I will never know.
So nowadays, I just unplug the ROVE dashcam each time I park the car and so far so good = no battery drain.

I put in a larger memory card, but note you have to format it if you do, otherwise the camera will not record properly. The video quality is nice, the app not so much (but I didn't buy it for the ease of use of the app, more for the super clean install).
I ran the power wire to the rear, but I am having Best Buy install the rear camera since I want the wire routed through the hinge and hidden behind the tailgate paneling. But installing the camera up front was easy and as mentioned by others, just need to finesse the pieces apart.
Side note, you cannot use power from the front mirror area for a radar detector, I tried. All the power is pulse width modulated and some even 9V, not 12V. So talking to Best Buy and another individual installer, they said they have run the power from the back fuse/12V socket to the front where you can get a switched 12V source, so I am having this installed also.

It is relatively low wattage but does anyone have any solution. And yes, I do the manual shut down of the camera. But the next day I go through the tape and it goes on and off through the nite. I am running it through the Rain Sensing plug with the wire splitter they provide.
And definetly get the polarizing lens covers as well.
