Review and install guide - Fitcamx dashcam for Mercedes Benz GLS
Product:
Fitcamx dashcam for Mercedes Benz GLS/ GLE2020-2022 GLE (V167)/GLS (X167)-Model D / Black / Front: 4K(2160P)64GB
What's unique, to me, about this dashcam is that it has an OEM look and feel about it. It installs in place of the black plastic piece above the mirror and doesn't require any wiring.
Retail (on sale) is under $250. Note it shipped from China so took a couple weeks to arrive. I was going to order from Amz but the vendor said it comes from the same warehouse. So plan to wait a bit.
When you order, send them a photo of your mirror and surrounding as there are 2 versions based upon whether you have Drivers Assist package or not.
Install and Photos:
The install took me 15 min max including downloading the app (I use iOS). There is one cautionary note on the install that differs from the vendor's install video (how to remove the middle black plastic piece above the mirror).
Dashcam Video:
Here are a few Youtube clips that I grabbed off the card. Note: it comes with a 64gb card and that is what I'm using.
Overall, I'm pleased with the dashcam. For $250ish and 15 minutes I'm happy. I was dreading running wires through the headliner. The only con that I can see is that it operates only when the GLS is powered on. Video quality (I use the 4k mode) is pretty good and I can enlarge/zoom in to read license plates.
Hope this helps!

I purchased and installed mine as well and have similar thoughts. Look and ease of installation is fantastic. Video quality is good.
Only a few gripes as I'm used to using other Dash Cams (I knew about these before ordering).
1 - Obviously no GPS on this camera. Probably not really a big deal because if there is ever an accident or anything, should be easy enough to figure out where you are/were, but GPS is a common feature.
2 - Max 128 GB card. Shooting at 4K this means overwriting files relatively quickly
3 - No manual way to "Lock" videos. The Cam will automatically lock a video and prevent it from being overwritten in the case that the G sensor detects something, but all the other dash cams I've used have had a manual way (button) to lock a video. Combined with #2, this is really my only disappointment because if I'm on a long trip and want to save a video, pretty much have to pull out a phone and grab it at a stop or something. On my other cameras, I push a button and once in a while grab whatever I've saved off the card.
#3 is one that I really miss and wish they would add it (could do it with firmware). That said, due to the look and ease of installation, I'm really pleased and am not considering changing it.
I think I'll get one now!
Really like the unit, works well and absolutely seamless integration. Came really quickly! I order Dec 30 and it arrived from Jan 7 - impressive. They did email after I placed the order to double check I had ordered correct model - good diligence.
Only tricky bit was releasing the top catches on the middle panel (you noted these) - they would not release with a comfortable amount of pulling pressure. The back edge of the catch needs to be pushed in using the spludger (tool they provide) or a flathead screwdriver to release - see markup of a couple of your pics (hope that ok) to highlight these. Can also use angled needle pliers to squeeze the catch.
Rest is trivial. Only thing then was in the app to set set the resolution to 4K (was defaulted to next resolution down in mine), and to adjust the exposure if necessary depending on whether you in Anchorage or Key West.

Those of you that have been installed for a while, any issues?
