My C230K VS 325 BMW & F150 Truck..

Had my music bumping really loud on Diamond Bar Blvd when I stopped at the red light, I looked right and left and saw both of them scoping my car. So I down shifted to 1 with tetronic making sure these guys arent picking a race. Right when the light hit green I floor it and right away and then these 2 guys floored it as well. When I hit 2nd gear I lost the 325 Bmw by 2-3 car lengths already. I was thinking there was no way im was going to beat a F150 because i was thinking about the torque it pumped out, but when i hit 3rd gear gear i was going about 65 already I think and I lost the F-150 by 2 cars? Is there something wrong here? By the way the car sounded like a freaken monster when he floored it. the bmw was pretty quiet..

the F150 lightning svt can do 0-60 in about 5.4 secs i believe. I dont think you raced a lightning it probably was just a F150.

I agree there a lots of fast trucks, like all the lingenfelter trucks. But as he mentioned it was simply a F-150

did you turn off the esp? the esp slows you down because it keeps you from spinning the wheels.

Spinning the wheels

Wheels spinning is power that is not going into moving you forward. Once your wheels break free of their grip on the pavement you actually lose acceleration.

I dont think so. Def not in my ML. The characteristic of the car changes a lot, if you got the shift timing done right it is much quicker, you can get more out of each gear..

The AMGs have different, more "aggresive" software controlling the gearbox.

can you even spin the tires with a c230? even without the esp?

I drove a C240 once, and it was just about the slowest car I've ever driven. I turned the esp off and the car wouldn't even chrip its tires.

Why is tiptronic slower in a drag race? I thought that it increased your acceleration quite a bit.

Its slower, because on the non AMGs, there is a huge delay between when your push the knob to the right, and when the car actually shifts, by tthe time the car shifts you could be out of your powerband, and into redline. Its faster to just let the car shift itself in S mode.

It makes you feel like youre actually in control. Let the computer do the math for you.

Yes, but with about 240HP, my M111 C230 can actually get out of its own way.
