C32 vs. Charger Daytona R/T

Last night on the way home, I got into it with one of those new burnt-orange Hemi Charger Daytonas. Before you get excited - sorry, it wasn't an SRT-8. We were on a multilane divided highway with traffic lights about once per mile. He was stopped at a light as I approached. Right when I stopped at the light next to him, it turned green. He nailed it and started out with a couple of car lengths on me. I wasn't planning to race unless we had a moment at the light, but my car was in 'S' mode with ESP off, so instead of a proper launch I just floored it. By the top of second I reeled him in and passed. I think the guy in the Charger was playing alone and started to slow, because it was too easy. When I pulled ahead a couple of car lenghts, I slowed up for him to catch me. As he came alonside he nailed it again. I heard his car kick down full throttle, so I did the same, and just walked away from him.

At the next traffic light, we were approaching alone in front. I thought for sure this would be good. However, the Charger pulled up to the line two lanes over and a full car length back from the light. I was sitting at the line thinking "Wtf, does he not want to run 'em?". Just as the light was about to turn from yellow to green, the Charger launches early. It really was a great launch - that Hemi has torque! He pulled a good three car lengths, right away! I was still pulling away from the line, with a decent launch but nothing like the leap of that Charger. It didn't matter - I still just reeled him in and walked away.

That car sure sounded good, and what a launch - but it was just too heavy to compete. I'm sure an SRT-8 would be a lot more fun - their published 1/4mile numbers are almost identical to the C32.

i the beginning the 5.7L hemi's were putting down numbers that made them so appealing....

MT had the 300c at 5.3 0-6 and 1/4 at 13.8 which was really good compared to cars in that price range...

since then the 5.7L hemi in the Charger, 300C, Magnum have been averaging 5.6 to 6.2 0-60 and low 14's in the 1/4..

Similar to what when a new car comes out, the first tests are usually overly exaggerated.. IE: IS350 5.1 0-60 and 13.7 1/4 PLEASE!!!!

the SRT8 has been consistent at 5.0 0-60 and 13.2 to 13.4 1/4... therefore that car would be a good match for the c32/c55... just hope they are stock.
