What can I beat in my 2.3L C230?
What cars out there are fair game for my bone stock, 2002 C230 with the 2.3L Kompressor and manual 6 speed? I'm just curious...

Well, with the 1.8, I'm about tied with the old man on the rascal. He pulls about half a cars length if he gets a better start. So with the 2.3 you should be able to crawl away from him by the end of the 1/4 mile!

well i am assuming your car can beat my ML. and my ML can beat... Just about any ricer, old bodied Mustangs with no mods. normal honda civics are beatable it takes and intake exhaust and chip from my friends civic to stay with my car till 30mph then i pull. You should be able to beat a BMW 325CI convertible.

oh theres lots, but not many out there who are actually going to try to race you besides ricers.
i'd say you can beat about 75-80% of the civics out there
stock 1.8T audi a4,
all VW 2.0s
half of the VW 1.8Ts (higher boost on many of the golfs will make it tougher than the audi)
BMW 318, 525, 325?
MB 240 (at low speeds), S 320, ML 320
Mazda 6
Toyota Matrix
Ford Mustang v6
most japanese SUVs
chevy cavalier/pontiac sunfire
volvo s40?
theres alot more out there, the 230 isnt all that slow by general car market standards, but like i said before you probably wont get any of the above dying to race you aside from something sporting an Erebuni body kit, roof banner, and Apexi exhaust.

Honestly if you're going to be racing it i'd try to add some additional boost with a new s/c pulley. The 6spd will help you out there too. Check with some guys in the C class forums to compare pulleys.

Nah, I'm just kiding, the car really isnt that slow. Its 4 or 5 year old technology. Back when the W203 first came out, it was on par with the other cars. But within the last few years, HP has been rising quickly to the point that a stock civic comes with almost 200 HP. Now the new 2.5 V6 C230, thats a damn shame, they should never have used that in the US market, not with the current competition. It should have been the 3.0 L V6 in the C280. Hopefully they get it right in the W204.

Most cars out there (especially in LA) are automatic. So you should have an advantage against the A4's and 325's with your 6speed if you know how to launch it. Most people also don't know how to launch their cars.

325CI convertables are just about dead even with the ML320 you only pull when they shift and then they pull when you shift. If i was to race the 325ci again i would power-break and then pull a car lenght at the start and they wouldnt make it up. Basically we did a 0-70 race and our cars would only pull or lose a foot at max during shifts.
