Tango with a Orange Lambo Gallardo

Was on my way to lunch when I see an orange gallardo up ahead. I have been seeing this guy but always going the opposite direction. This time he is headed to the Ferrari/Lambo dealership. I get right on his ***, he takes note. Drops gear. I get into manual mode at 50mph in 2nd, he cracks it, I crack it and I am like white on rice on his bumper. But...then I realize, this car is like $250K...I do not want to rear end him!!!

So I pull off the throttle. I anticipate where he is going, we both pull around a turn at 20mph, he is 2-2.5 cars ahead of me and cracks it. Engine sounds terrific. I nail it and by the time we hit 90mph my 2-2.5 car deficit goes to about 1 car (I had to pull into a different lane to avoid rear ending him again). Would have loved to see what would have happened with more road. He runs a stop sign (right turn) and I go on my merry way.

I was suprised at the speed of the car. Mags put that car at 12.1@117. The driver was banging gears impressively, unless it is a F1 type shifter. Faster than I though it would be.

That part of your kill story is funny as sh*t!!

Nothing better than finally getting a run with a car you've had your eye on.

Between the Gallardo and the Bike in your other kill post you've gotten some pretty damn cool opportunities to enjoy the awesome TQ and HP you're squeezin' out of your siiick E.

Hey Lowphat, thanks man. Are you familiar with rt. 28 in NOVA (sterling)? You can basically pick your targets coming out of the Ferrari dealership. Yesterday I passed a F40 (aren't they V8 TTs from the early 1990s...ran like 12.2 stock...fast back then).

You can always find good cars in that area, Greenway past Dulles too.

A stock E55 should edge out a stock Gallardo in a straight line right?

Going to be a close race..........Gallardo take of very quick......due to the all wheel drive......no wheel spin....... All I could say it going to be neck to neck......but a modded out E55 will burn the Gallardo........

didn't know it was AWD. 118mph at 2710 is an EXCELLENT MPH. My stock E55 ran 12.29@113.6 @ 2200 DA, SAE about 12.1@115...i Bet at sea level conditions your 118 turns to 121 at least.

I didn't know they run out of steam up top. He was DEFNITELY in the game from 20-80mph. I could tell I was gaining at the very end. I would have figured he would have smoked me when I was stock but don't really know.

I am pretty impressed with the Gallardo...vs. the C6Z06 here it appears to hang very steady until 80-110? and then loses by about 1.5-3 cars...not bad considering the Z runs 122-125mph in the 1/4.

Both cars have the same crank hp and weight about the same weight.

I was out at 28 & 50 today at lunch - went to look at Curry's Auto Service. Used to take my car to European Service Automotive in Fairfax but new people in the service department there now so I'm looking for new indy service place. Curry's seems pretty clean & well equipped. Going there for alignment next week. Next time I'll go a little further "out West" to see what's up in Sterlingland.

I think I saw you one day out here in Fairfax Corner area - months ago around last year - you were turning left from Waples Mill on to 50 twds. 66 exits - I was at 50 Eastbound light - you gave me a hard staredown dude..... obviously confident in what's under your hood...

Anyway - not to hijack this thread but that sh*t you said in the Bike thread about the dudes reading WSJ in the back as you rocket past 150MPH was hilarious.

Hey thanks man! Sorry for the stare down. Was probably just admiring your Benz. I get my *** handed to me plenty of times...mainly from my friends 9-10second Vipers and Vettes. The E will never hang with them in speed.

Have you seen a black E55 in sterling. Liscense plate "E-Unit" pretty funny!

I do work near Fairfax Circle. I used to goto Curry's too...they do good work. Tell them you work at AOL and want the 5% discount...for what its worth ;-)

The funny thing about that WSJ article....I raced a '03 Z06 back in June-03 on the way down to MIR. Had 3 people in my car, and my buddy was reading the WSJ in the back. I was racing and edged out a Z06 by a car and my back seat passenger looked up and was like that was hilarious....did you just beat that guy while I was reading with the paper all folded out and ****, lol

The all wheel drive really robs power from a roll or top end. It is drivetrain loss.

thats it, should have remembered...my S4 used to just flop at about 80mph. Would the same be true for the 996TT? I guess it would have to be.

I got the 996TT......Took it to Palmdale and I ran a 1/4 mile time of 12.8sec @122mph if I could recall.......and it was stock too........ anyways......I wish I did not sold that car...... That would be the best sport car to own for the rest of my life 996tt or 997tt...... e55 baller if you have a chance to test drive the 996TT......trust me you will like it.......!!

You sound like you need to try out a Murcielago.

I had a run in with a black gallardo in my STi down Bake Parkway around my office on a Sunday morning. We lined up on Bake and Trabuco / Irvine Center Dr. waiting for the light to turn green. I revved up to 6000+RPM and launched it. I was getting ready to get my *** handed to me but to my surprise, I was at 1 1/2 car length in front of him for a few seconds or more and pulled away. I really hoped that the Gallardo would continue the run, but he slowed down, passed me, and gave me a dirty look. What a dick weed. Ahhhh.. sweet memories of my beloved STi before "THE WOMAN" pressured me to get rid of it. Now a silver Ceyenne Turbo S is in her stead in the garage.
