C6 freeway roll w/03-04 575 Ferrari M

I was in LA today going home & what do I see? A bright red 575 F-car, I proceed to stalk him & then get right along side of 'em pacing trying to instigate a little action it was a bit crowded but enough room for a short burst or 2.

He didn't bite the 1st time I gunned it from about 70mph - 95mph I slowed back to 70ish & he casualy caught up then WAM! he hits it! he got a very tiny jump on me I was right there on his rear quarter panel then to my surprise I started pulling past him about 3/4 length up to 122mph (courtesy of the Heads-up display) then had to hit the brakes due to traffic ahead.

He had blacked out tints didn't acknowledge me or anything, and hung back behind a few cars then exited a few miles later.

I checked out the 575 stats online 500hp 430to but he weighs a whopping 3800+lbs so I guess It was a ligit kill since my vette only weighs 3100 w/400hp 400to.

Don't know though since it was such a short run, maybe he would've reeled me back in if we had more room?? or maybe he couldn't shift? Hell I was just happy to run against him it was to kool.

Here's a pic' I snaped while stalking him before the blood shed

Rackin up those kill points already Bro, if only Corvette Forum had a kill section...no doubt, you would be entertaining us Nice kill on the V12 F-car, the underdog V8 gives him the jump, reels him in and makes him pay.

Any performance mods yet?? Stock is fun too!!!

Yeah I can't believe CF doesn't allow/have kill section, Till then I'll entertain everybody else if they like hearing about C6.....

Na bone stock till next month, Probably go intake, bullets, maybe tune? for the 1st round of mods.

You sure it was a 575 and not a 550? It is really hard to tell the difference without seeing the front end (slightly different hood scoop, lower air intake, and light positioning). Not that there is really that much diff between the two (about 30 HP, if I remember correctly).

Anyways, nice run and nice kill!

To tell you the truth, No I couldn't tell the difference I've only seen a couple of 'em 550/575 It looked brand new, but I guess those types of cars are hardly ever driven so mute point on my end.

Thanks....

My LPE CAI netted 10rwhp (most gains were at the top end), and not worth the purchase if you later add a Centrif. blower: Vortech, ProCharger or Paxton, as it's not useable.

Replacing the stock exhaust for aftermarket is mostly for deeper sound and not much performance gains...B&B just released the Bullets PRT, but it maybe for 06 models only, anyways imho not worth the $1480 if you add LT headers later on (and trust me you will add the headers!!!) cuz the mid section on the PRT will be useless.

Go with the LG Pros for the most TQ down low...it's well document that John Page of LPE/21st Muscle Car did a Kooks vs LGs dyno comparison, the LGs under the curve gains were most impressive. Then have Charlie tune it, since the factory a/f is pig rich and he can adjust the TQ management for firmer shifts & launch...+20 rwhp/rwtq gains should be expected. Driveability will improve ten folds with the dyno tune, and since he uses HP Tuners & LS2 Edit it covers more architecture.

The LGs will run you approx. $1800 + install and dyno tune $550 (re-tunes are $275 when you had a blower of H/C).

Here's a bone stock C6 with just the LGs:

Look at the TQ curve!!!

Thanks for the info! You deffinitely just narrowed it down I'm going LGs & tune!!!!!
So from what you posted I should be close to that dyno chart w/LGs only then +20 more w/tune? that'd be an incredible gain I can't believe it That'll be damned close to 400@the wheels

Thanks again Rich!

Just looked it up, You must be right man must've been a 550, they had 480hp 415to 0-60 in 4.5 very comparable to the C6 which has been clocked by manys Mag's & Chevy themselves in the 0-60 at 4.1-4.5 sec.

Anyhow good call, Makes me feel better that he wasn't a ****y driver or missed a shift.

The C6 A4 may baseline a bit less (10-15rwhp), every car is different so it's hard to say and you've got miles which is good, meaning the engine is broken in. My baseline average out to 342rwhp/338rwtq before my first oil change at 600 miles. I remember I gained about +27 at the wheels with tuning alone.

A&A sells all the brand headers; Kooks, American Racing/Vette Doc. and LGMs, Charlie can show you on his database that the LGs hold the numbers...I have the Kooks as it was the only available headers for the C6 at the time of purchase.

Again, depending what you baseline at, but if 400 rwhp is your current goal, a mild cam ($1650-turnkey) LGs, Halltech Stinger, UD pulley & tune and still retain your stock exhaust...much like ths A4:

Thumbs up

nice kill

the car in the pic is a 550
its white circle lights (inside the red) are different tint from the outside to the inside light

on the 575 the white circles are all the same clear whir color, no red tint

those cars start to really pull above 130

Nice!

If you guys watch BBC's Top Gear, the second episode of the current season, they tested the C6 Z06 (what a mean looking machine) and they compared it to the 575 and made funny remarks about how similar they are in many ways (except for the price)

Yeah I love the show but, thought the remarks Jeramy Clarkson made about Z06 were absolute BS he ripped on that car mercilessly, The only problem w/that show is there uneven bias toward American cars, and absolute support of nearly anything European.

It used to be absolute support of anything "British" but with the demise of the British car industry, I suppose that stance is no longer tenable.

At least the C6 has given Clarkson something to talk about. Before the C6 there were hardly (if) any GM/Ford/Chrysler-branded cars that would make the cut on that show.

No kidding! I think the only two in recent memory were the Z06 and Ford GT.

Hard to blame him, though. With a ton of options over there, why would anyone wax nostalgic about "American" branded cars?
