Quote: Yes, you're right... no point in getting into which is better, because Porsche clearly makes better cars than Chrysler-AMG.

My E55 is a travesty in handling... about all it does well is nice big burnouts and straight line pulls... A Cayenne Turbo will easily outhandle an E55. In fact, there is no doubt that the Cayenne Turbo S would probably whoop my E55 around a race track too. How SAD is that?

All MB had to do was give us a proper suspension with electronically adjustable shocks, instead they gave us some airbag bull**** that chollos use on their hoopties and el caminos.
A Cayenne Turbo!!! Are you joking? Perhaps it might out perform the e55 in the water. Am I the only one that thinks the Cayenne looks like the old amphicar of the 1950's?

Very interesting to see someone with a user name of AMG ETR on a MB Forum...lol. Nice car though, too bad it's being parted out. Ran a Turbo S roadster in a modded 512TR (straight pipes) and it was a beat down, great run though. Okay, now for the comparison with the EVOMS GT700 animal. According to that EVOMS GT700 guy's signature, it says that that car ran neck and neck with a RennTech SL600, both with QTR times of 11.25 seconds. Now, if I remember correctly, I believe some guy with a RennTech SL65 ran a very impressive time of around 10.85 seconds in the QTR. So DBerry, if you want to take down even the mighty GT700 in acceleration, give Hartmut Fehyl a call.

Look at the trap speeds, when I ran the 11.25 I had a 2.1 60' time. The guy with the SL65 is a good freind of mine, as a matter of fact I was running against him on that run. When we go at it on the street I destroy him by about 6 or 7 car lengths. ET doesn't mean as much as trap speed on the street. He traps at 126 I trap at 136, find me a Benz that does that.

After you are finished with Hartmut, give me a call.

BTW, there are several GT700s that have run 10.x times. RTV12 would have a MUCH faster ET but for the fact that he runs at one of the slowest tracks in the county (in the middle of the Arizona desert).

So how does that RennTech 600 fare against the RennTech 65? The 65 is equipped with a superior motor and both are tuned by the same aftermarket company. Was wondering if it was close on the street.

Edit: Are those hp figures the rwhp data from the dyno, or are they converted figures?

I believe that SL65 ran at the same track. What's truly impressive is that the SL outruns such cars and is full weight (over 2 tons). Either way, it would be a great run.

The 65 has an Airbox the 600 does not, the 65 gets a slight edge but not by much. The HP figures are at the flywheel

Impressive, and who ever said that MB/RennTech underrate their cars? Psh, only 165 tq higher than their rating.

Quote: No matter what you drive, there is always someone faster. I agree the tuned 55k and V12TT's are fast, but they handle like crap and are way too heavy. There are many, many modified Porsches that will kill AMG cars in a straight line and many modified AMG cars that will do the same to Porsches.... so what! We should appreciate all of them.

Nice kill.

Hmmm I remember a stock 55 on giggle gas (a $500 mod) runs in the 10's ala DerekFSU. Not bad for a luxury 4 door. Considering the amount of cash spent on mods to the above mentioned Pcars most would expect lower ET's. But most of us know a Pcar is not a great 1/4 toy. If it's used for the street that's one thing, but for the +$50k spent in mods for the Pcars I would rather own a pure track car. I would put a little 944 known as "Flipper" (selling for $40k) up against any of them at the track (buttonwillow, willow springs) any day of the week.

I meant an aftermarket RennTech Carbon Fiber Airbox; it made 40 more HP at the wheels on the 65. The 600 just has a stock MB airbox

I was refering to a couple of other posters, but if you're also insecure & want to include yourself, be my guest. A guy writes about one race he won against a Porsche & a couple of posters come out & start writing nonsense about MB in an MB website, & you don't think that's being a troll? Fact is fact
