Audi S4 gets a thumbs down...

Today I was driving to pick up some lunch with my 6 year old daughter driving conservatively. I am on Route 12, which is a highway with traffic lights every 3-4 miles and I see an Audi dodging between cars behind me. Well we get to one of the aforementioned traffic lights and I see him pull up in the lane next to me with a clear road in front of us. At first I thought it was a plain old A4, but I saw the little "s" badge in the front grill. It was an older model maybe 2000. For a moment I forgot that I had a 6 year old passenger in the back... So not wanting to get pulled over doing 95 with a child, I realized that it would be a short race to the speed limit. He was inching up before the light turned so I knew he was going to punch it. So I told my daughter to give him the Thumbs down sign when we passed him...As soon as we took off I heard a little laugh from the back seat. Then saw him in the rearview. I shut it down at 60 and he came by with a tumbs up.

Good story. I like it when the other guy has enough courtesy to give a "thumbs up".

At least he gave a thumbs up. If it was bone stock, 250 bhp is all a B5 S4 has. He needs at least a Stage 2 upgrade to get any results from his twin turbo V6. I should know, I had that set up but for an A6.

But anyway, yeah that guy should've known not to try if he was bone stock. He didn't have a chance against a C32.

Modified B5 S4 or A6 2.7T

Now if you run into a stage 2 B5 S4, a stock C32 will have a hard time beat it. I run an A6 2.7T 6 speed (S4 motor) with around 350 BHP /400ft lb torque, 3600lb and regularly surprise C5, GTO, STi etc. as they have no idea. That's with relatively minor tuning (downpipes, cat-back, K&N GIAC-X chip). Serious S4's run up to 460 hp or more and can run in the 11's.

Hey Mcbaes...all you need now is an M3 for the garage. Then you would have the complete set.

I believe it. I've even heard of 500 hp w/ K04s, IC, fullback exhaust, etc. A couple people I've seen on AudiWorld sold their B6 S4 for a Stage 3 (or higher) B5 S4. I thought they were crazy...'til I heard the hp/torque #s they claimed. When I was at Stage 2, I had only Milltek cat-back, MTM chip and GIAC Tip chip. The MTM chip was tone-down vs. GIAC-X chip, but I wanted it that way.

But anyway, APR, AWE and VF are coming out w/ a SC for the B6 S4 claiming over 450 hp which will be available later this year. That's what I'm waiting for. Here's APR's SC...

LOL! Good suggestion. Unfortunately, the wifey wants either a wagon or suv to haul the dogs around. But I like your idea better.

Having a 6yr boy and a 2yr girl, seeing their excitement when I pass someone or when I accelerate quickly from a stop, makes my day.
