CLK430 v. Mystery MB Badged E 60 S

Get out of the workshop round 12a last night (July 26) and headed to my girls house in Buckhead....a very prominant area in Atlanta where you regularly see AMG's, G Wags, the Bentley GT's are no stranger, several Vanquish roam the streets, and even an SLR (Andruw Jones - Braves OF)....its really quite a car show!

At any rate, I'm makin my move to the right hand lane to exit 400 onto Lenox Road. I'm pretty much alone but perhaps a 1/4 m ahead I can see tail lights jump across three lanes of empty toll road to make the same exit....ehhh whatever, I think to myself....the chump doesnt know where he is.

I'm cruisin pretty fast...maybe 80-85 and I can tell this guy sorta waits then guns it up the exit ramp. I have no problem stickin right behind him as he turns. He seems to be watching me in his rear view since his moves to navigate the road seem to be a bit delayed...as if he's waiting to see where I'm headed. I pull up behind at a left turn light and I give a little chuckle when I read the badge on his white 2000 or so 4 door. It reads E 60 S. Then I notice the Renntech badge....my eyes go immediately to his exhaust and I see its def. a mod......hmmm. What does this guy want from little ole me?

A few lights later & streets pretty much empty given the hour, he manages to pull to the left lane and lets me pull along side. Hes a bigger guy, won't give me a glance....not gonna do it....but his pipsquek buddy ridin shotgun gives me a look through the smoked glass from what looked to be fully reclined position (Whatever floats your boat dude)?! No revin engines, no looks, no nothin....but there was no mistaking what was about to happen.

Let me preface....I do not race....I'm just an aggressive driver that enjoys the performance of my vehicle and appreciate that of others'.

We get an even launch...I hear his engine roar to life, then he kinda started to pull, maybe a bumper. I hear his ride change notes, Deep and noisy, but my Sadie kicked down at just the right moment and I pulled at least a car and a half on this guy in maybe a little over a 1/4?! I was stunned!

"Good Girl," I cried! I gave the guy a hazzard Flash and at the next light he gave a honk / honk and turned his sled around...

So now the post mortem:

CLK 430 vs. E 60 S Renntech?
CLK 430 = STOCK / Decent pilot
E 60 S = Mods? RennTech? / Heavier car & passenger (maybe 140lbs wet)

WINNER: CLK 430
QUESTION: What the hell is a E 60 S / before I smoked him I was thinking SC and figured the guy was gonna blow my doors off? Maybe the guy is a crappy pilot I dunno....the badge had me head scratchin.

Any ideas? Was this some bunk badge happy chump....or could it have been legit and a good kill for the W208?!

Well, he could have had a 430, to your credit.
The E60 was a very, very limited production car (only a few hundred between 96 and 97) and had 347hp, he would have owned you if it wasn't just a rebadge job.

And I hate baseball.

E60 had the same motor as the CLK60. They put out 408 hp and are very rare cars. Probably an E430 with some RennTech mods. Regardless, you had the lighter car and pulled harder due to that. Nice run!

Wikipedia sucks, they quoted the engine's power at 347.

I'm trying to figure out where the author obtained that figure. The only MB with a power rating of 347 is the tq rating on an R129 SL500 with the M119 motor. Probably they meant to quote the 349 hp rating of the E55 and it was a typo. But yeah, I wouldn't qualify as Wikipedia as a credible source since, correct me if I'm wrong, anyone can post information on it.

Yes, anyone can post information/edit on wikipedia. I had to fix A LOT of the stuff on Merc engines and chassis'. Mind you, there is still mistakes made by others but i'm too lazy to fix them.
Overall, I think it is a great site.
