Ml55 Vs C43

One of my friends just bought a C43, so naturally we're going to see whats what. We went out to the Jones beach strip, stop in the middle of the road 3 honks and we were off. Ran from 0-110 3 times. The first time I was tipping, esp on, him as well. Dead even to 110. The ML would pull ahead by 1/2 a car everytime the C changed gear but then he would come back even when the ML changed gear. The second run I put the car into D to see if there is any difference between tipping and auto. And wow. Immediately off the line he pulled a car and a half with about a 3 car length by 110. D really slows the car down, its amazing. Our 3rd run was ESP off on both cars I was tipping again. Same result, dead even all the way till 110.
I wouldnt be suprised that we got the results we got because of his dirty air filters. He's getting green filters in the mail this week, so im sure our results will change.

On the way back home, we decided to do 2 rolling starts from 30 mph. The ML has nothing on the C43 from a roll, 3 car length maintained till 110 both times.

None the less, nice to see the ML pull its own from the dig =).

Here some pics we took afterwards.

I am not too surprised, considering that the C43 AMG has a much smaller displacement than the ML55. This will help from off the line. However, be aware that above 120 the C43 will obviously win due to the drag coefficients of both cars. Nonetheless both did well, have fun and be safe.

For a 6000lb SUV these things can get busy!!! Also as J gets more familiar with the C and cleans the air intake(filters) it should be very interesting...wonder what happens after 110, ????

Good write up Matt!

Your friend should get his C43 looked at.He should have pulled on you from the line regardless on what gear he was in or what gear you were in.You may have 40hp/73 ft lbs. advantage but your also pulling 1,500 lbs extra.

Yea I agree! Still cool to see that the ML can keep up with a fairly quick sedan!!!! Nice write up Matt!
