E60 M5 vs. Brand New Saleen S281

So I'm driving down rt. 46 west here in the dirty jerz, some random guido tailing me in his GS350 just trying to get my goat, when I spotted something white, mean and fast moving a hundred yards back. Now I was on my way to the car wash to get my demon cleaned off, but decided to take a detour to investigate the UFO in my rearview.

About a mile or so up the road he's on my tail, and lo and behold its a brand new Saleen S281. I happen to be a pretty big fan of the look of that badboy, so I got behind him in an admittedly aggressive manner. We played a bit, nothing major, just sizing each other up until the road opened up. He took the rt. 23 north exit, clearly identifying himself as a spoiled teenager from Wayne, and I followed suit.

Off the ramp and on to the highway, I jumped into the right lane, popped the smg into 3rd at about 60mph, pressed the M button and jumped on it. We went until about 140mph (at least I did) and I put a few buslengths on him. Those things are quick, but definitely not quick enough. I threw out the anchor and backed down to 70 literally a quarter mile from a speedtrap, and he passed without so much as a glance. Sorry dude.

Funny thing, while the Saleen looks like a racecar, I'm not too sure about their suspension setup, he seemed to bottom out the front bumper over minor road imperfections.

Good kill! I like the Saleen's myself, even considered one before picking up the SLK last year. The base S281 though doens't make a whole lot more hp than a regular Mustang GT (just some intake/exhaust work). The S/C'd version would be better competition for ya. For your M5 at least, not the Supra!

I'm pretty positive it was blown. An NA would have been dusted far worse.

Yeah, it must have been supercharged just to stay in view. The M V10 is unbeliveable from a mid-to-high speed roll.

One at our local track runs 117 traps, not sure if it's it's still stock though.

There's three diff versions. A N/A one with a lil bump in power, a S/C one, and a extreme one (550). I never test drove one, but was offered the Extreme version in place of the GT500.

I used to live in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Same one you're talking about CH?

I wouldn't bother spending money for those $80k hopped up Mustangs (thinking Gt500 market price).

May as well get a stock GT and do it myself (turbocharge etc.) - or just drive the Mustang for what it is... a cool car.

Car Lassiter- I do, but I used to have red ML320. I made the avatar then, and haven't bothered to change it. But I also like it.
