KILLED a G35 coupe

Hi All,

Before anyone flames me, I would like to clarify my current mods.

Renntech Carbon Fiber Airbox with K&Ns
Evosport UDPS
Evosport 2.5" High-Flow-Cats
Eisenmann race pipe
Remus Sport Exhaust

So heres the deal, after I have gotten my mods, I'd always wanted to sorta "run with a G35 or 350z" type vehicle.

Today, I saw a WHITE G35 Coupe on the BQE heading towards manhattan, and I sorta "played with it", This G35 turned onto the manhattan Bridge exit, and I was right behind him, (not exactly tailing, but right behind him), so after the curve onto the bridge, (straight road), I saw some come from his exhaust, so I floored my car, right in back of his, I was catching up, and managed to cut to the right lane and caught up right next to him, (you can hear the dam g35 growl!) and with my car floored, I started inching up on him, (was behind his tail, then inched up next to him, then eventually started passing him!)

I was amazed on how my car is performing! Just wanted to share my story.

Nice kill! Just be careful with those G35s. The newer ones have a little more juice in em. About 3 years ago, I was able to run neck to neck with a G35 in a 96 Volvo 850R. About a week ago I ran with what I believe to be a brand new G35X or something in Boston. He was checking out my car, this time a CLK430. Figured I wouldn't have a problem and let him get a slight jump over me from 60, then I nailed it. It took longer than expected to catch him. It wasn't until I was exceeding 110 before I was able to inch past him. More powerful than I thought. I guess it's time for a CLK55.

thanks guys!

I'm too cheap for a dyno...they were asking for $80 for ONE run, NO AFR!!! I said screw this! gonna need to find a cheaper place!

As for the NEW G35, I was reading the JULY2008 edition of Car and Driver, and they introduced the new 330hp G37 Coupe, they increased 24hp, making it 330hp, and 0-60 is 0.1 second SLOWER than the previous G35 sedan they had tested back in october 06. isnt that weird?

I know those new G35s are pretty fast, I've had one tail me and I wasnt able to loose him!

Ask Tom where we went to get his car dyno'd we got 4 runs for like 80 bucks.

Nice kill, I'm able to screw with G35's really bad, for some reason they really suck on the highway. Worse yet they suck off the line.

The engine note from the 350Z/G35 is about as terrible as it gets. Weedy, buzzy and generally highly annoying.

G35s suck

But they're still relatively quick. If that car on the BQE was a previous generation automatic that was out of tune, that may explain it.

Nice Kill.

The driver of the G35 probably went home and cried himself to sleep in his Fire Engine pajamas in his racecar-shaped bunk bed.

You can def. hear something...not sure if I would call it a growl though...

Maybe a screech of pain? Yeah, that sounds about right.

I'm impressed. That's a pretty solid kill, your car must be quick with those mods. I didn't think they'd make that much of a difference. Nice

G35s are quick, but they do top out after 100+ mph speeds. So I'm curious to see what torque/hp gains the mods got ya, but otherwise the G35 is either an automatic or a manual with a crappy driver. A lot of G35s I came across are owned by dudes that had no idea what shifting means.

I had a black 350z roadster "rev" his car up at me today haha I thought it was funny, he had those cheap privat wheels. and apparently he wanted to "race" me, while my gf looked over and just laughed at him.

Privat?

Those wheels weigh like 45 lbs each- withOUT the chrome.

Nothing like ADDING unsprung weight to your car to make it faster- not.

Nice run man. I guess that G35 only had exhaust, cuz they are actually somewhat quick. And they sound great WOT. I know cuz I have a HKS s/c, with HKS headers, cats and titanium exhaust on my 06 G35 in Tpe, Taiwan.

But I must admit, even with my supercharger, it will still lose to a stock 55k amg. Haha....

Anyways, I noticed that in the US the G35 does not get much respect, cuz it is played out, and like Cylinder Head says, I noticed that guidos love those cars....

Well, I'm about to sell the G35 in Taiwan, it was a fun toy. had lots of fun slippin n slidin in it. enjoy the pics...

And I agree with Jerseyclk55, ur wheels weight too much. Get some lighter wheels. I saved a ton of weight with Work Vs-XX on the g35....Go with some BBS, or some other lightweight forged wheels
