Nissan 350 Z

I was on my way home from work. On one of the roads that I take on the way home, a silver Nissan 350Z was tailgating me. I was going 60, so I floored the car. I see the 350Z getting smaller, but he floored his car. However, I was still out accelerating him. I then slowed back to 60 and pulled to the right lane, to get off on the exit to another road to go home. The 350 Z did the same and sped passed me. Then, to my surprise, the road opened up and no cars in sight. The 350Z was 5 car lengths ahead when I floored it. I could tell that he too then floored it. I was gaining on him very quickly. When he was 1 car length ahead, I noticed that I was at 90 mph. Right before I was about to pass him and he was about 1 car length ahead, we both hit our brakes pretty hard and stopped at the light. That was the 1st time that I had to truly test the brake capabilities of my 1999 E55 AMG. And let me say, I am truly amazed at how the car braked. The 350Z stopped about 3/4 a car length ahead of me at the stop light. We both rolled down our windows and talked. The owner of the 350Z was a very nice guy. We complimented each other's car. He told me that his car was a 2002 Nissan 350Z, purchased late last year. We agreed to race each other when at the green light. I could hear his engine revving. I turned off the ESP and lightly braked torqued the car to about 800 rpm. I was afraid the ESP might kick in too much and that is why I only lightly braked torqued the car. Light turned green. I floored the car and was quicker out of the hole. From there, it was all over for the 350Z. At around 60 mph, I was about 2 two car lengths ahead. At around 90 mph, I was about 3 car lengths ahead. Honest. It seemed like more b/c it was not even close. What this race showed me was that the brakes on the car is really amazing. Oh yeh, its pretty fast too.

Correct me if im wrong but there is no 2002 350Z and sale of that vehicle only start a few months back as a 2003 model.

that is true. there is no such thing as a 2002 350Z. and they came out only a couple months ago.

he could have have mistyped but not likely. WHat kind of car do you have?

On a side note, I did see the new Z gets it **** handed to it the other night. Some little ***** from charlote had a new Z, we was cruising in front of the movie theatre. A guy in a debadged S4 asked him to race. The kid in the Z was like yeah but i'll kill you. The S4 had the K04 turbos, making somewhere around 375hp with AWD. The S4 killed that kid, too funny. when it was all over the driver of the S2 said "not bad for a 4 door sedan is it, son".

Just thought I would share.

There is no such thing as a 2002 350Z. The car just arrived 2 months ago to the states. The car looks awasome, but I am surprised you only beat him by a few cars to 90mph. You should have raped him totally in everyway, rolling and from standing. I have to admit, the 350Z is very nice. I kinda want one...

I thought the guy said it was a 2002? I could be wrong. I know it was the new 350Z and a very pretty silver color. My heart was pounding so fast. I did beat him pretty good. It wasn't even clos. When he past me on the exit road, I was just cruising not even thinking about racing the guy. But, when I saw that no cars where in front of us, that was when I floored my car. When I did that, he was about 5 car lengths ahead. I gained on him pretty quickly, then I noticed I was at 90 mph, he was about 1 car length ahead, and I was gaining fast. Then, we both saw the stoplight ahead. I don't know much about the 350Z. Is it suppose to be fast? It looks it, but I am not sure b/c of how much the E55 outaccelerated his car. At the stoplight, the E55 jumped out of the hole and never looked back.

5.4 0-60, 13.4-14.0 1/4 mile time in manual form. 280 bhp braking distance 60-0 is 115 feet (3 shy of an M3). Though I believe 70-0 is 10 feet more than an M3?

Pretty fast for a $27,000-$35,000 car. Braking distance varies on what package you get of course....

I think the car is capable to runing the 1/4 in 14.1 - 14.4 sec. The E55 should be a full second quicker. On the top end, there is no comparasion.

Nice kill jcjmw! May be he was a very good driver and could get out of the hole quick, you should've been able to leave him behind easier, but it was still a nice kill.

14.0 with the way magazines test... 13.4s are easily done with a good driver. Yes top end the E55 is quicker. So highway runs he has no chance.

13.4 sec in the 1/4 mile?! You must be kidding? Where did you hear the 350Z can do 13.4 sec? I don't think any driver in the world can pull 13.4 sec on a stock Z. Normal drivers won't even get close to 14.0 sec with a stick.

Stillen's supercharger for the 350z allows it with low boost to produce 390 rwhp. This car with the performance package and a supercharger is one mean machine.

Okay, a Civic with lots of mods can produce 1000 plus hp. A C32 with twin turbos can produce 500 plus hp. What's your point? We are talking about a stock 350Z with no mods. Any car with a supercharger or turbo kit can easily produce over 300 hp, old news.

Lots of mods is your key. I'm talking about a low boost like 6 - 9 psi with only a supercharger. Thats a lot of gain for so little. To get a 1000 hp civic you need to do a lot more then a supercharger lol. And its almost 400 hp not 300. I think you shouldn't generalize cars. I see the C230 Supercharged kompressor barley puts out 190 hp.
