SLK55 vs Pontiact GTO

This morning on an abandonded road in Mexico I happened across a GTO 6.0. I passed him as he was driving pretty slow and he didn't try to catch up so I didn't think he would play. I caught a red light up ahead and he pulled up along side some time later. Light turned green, nothing. I started to accelerate normally and I was getting ahead of him. I guess he didn't like that and all of a sudden I heard him downshift and exhaust come to life. Caught off guard I floored it to but he jumped up until my bumper was about even with his door, darn you 7 speed for downshifting so slow. I inched up ever so slowly until we were dead even at around 100 and he let off. I guess he thought he would show the slow mercedes a thing or 2. Guess not. The 2 cars are very evenly matched though.

Great run and yes I agree. Here in the area where I live I see to many GTOs especially those SRT Dodge Chargers and those 1990's Impalas. These guys think they're faster and own the road. I drive an E350 so I'm no match to these vehicles. I see myself in an E63 sometmes soon and if I ever come across with these guys you know for sure they will be ...

Nice run. I've only run into one GTO that wanted to play. Sadly, it was during the break-in period. He probably thought I was scared or something

Break-in? You gotta drive it like you stole it...

HERE's why.

You gotta watch those Goats, the LS-2s in particular are quick stock, and readily tweaked and tuned. Never cared much for the styling, a little too Camry-ish for my taste, but the forthcoming '08/'09 looks more like it and truer to its Holden heritage...

Those GTOs are nice for GM. I'll roll the dice against those things anyday. Their transmission is their Achille's heel. The CLK55 is so solid, inside I can't even hear the other guy's exhaust.

I'm not a 55 but I couldnt help but post.....You should see their faces when they get whooped on by an SRT6 lol. Its hard to tell the difference between the 04s with the LS1 and the 05 with the LS2 some say the ram air hood but, its a difference in 355hp and a 400hp motor. Looks like the LS1 is running a 13.8 and the LS2 at 13.3 on average from a roll take off it might be hard to get in front of the LS2 if he gets the jump..

It was an LS2 model. The SLK55 packs a punch, they run high 12s at 110 in the 1/4.

Cars
Never get too cockey when coming across a Goat. Most are modified and it's not uncommon for them to put down 400+ hp to the rear wheels. They're heavy cars but the V8 get's 'em moving quickly and with minor mods the LSx engines really wake up on power. The GTOs are just now starting to get some respect from enthusiasts...Of course after they stop makinf them! LOL

A Camry?!? Didn't they only make a 2 door Camry for like 3 years? Come on man.....It's more like a Cavalier on steroids...
