Modded C6 Vette vs new M6 BMW vert w/pic's

I had business in LA CA. today driving my modded C6 Vette (mods below) 101 South bound right before the 405 frwy towards Wilshur blvd.

What do I see a new quad tipped BMW M6!!!! convertible, looked like a middle eastern guy in his 40's by himself, we are cruising along at 70mph in light to heavy traffic, I want this race!!! I drop to 3rd & throw some revs he looks over (No tint on his windows) he gives me a look like kinda shrugs and a little laugh, I figure NO GO? & pull ahead slightly & settle in @ 80ish about 1 minute goes by & he tries to pull a fly-bye!

I'm still in 3rd gear & ready to go as soon as he's about 1/4 length ahead I put the peddle to the floor & to my amazement reel him in & pass him at a nice pace (NO walk) I continued to pull 6-7 lengths on him till traffic safety became a major concern, I'm thinking "No way he must of lifted or somethinng?" so I let off @ speeds better left for PM's

He goes flying by at 1xx mph so he was obviously trying, I wanted to make sure though so I tailed him until traffic opened up, then wham he hits it! I'm right there pulling hard right behind in the same lane (No doubt he had it floored) & I literally had to lift off the gas so I wouldn't run him down!!!!

We did this 4 times until traffic was stupid busy, I let off after beating him EVERY TIME & he flips out like a crazy teenager weaving in & out of lanes cutting off everybody, at that point I obviously let him go & have his imaginary win.

I shot 5 crummy camera phone pic's sorry it was the best I could do at the time, (1) as I was flying past him, the rest were hard to get as he morphed into a ricer, but NO doubt it was an M6 I saw it clear as day when I 1st spoted him.

I even called The-Juice-aka Josh to tell him afterwards, I was like a little kid @ Christmas time

I was freaking out!! I knew my new mods made a big difference but all the Gustav stories had me still fearing these beasts, they lack torque from 65-135 km's lol I pulled rediculously on him...

Maybe he couldn't drive? maybe he didn't hit the extra 100hp button? I doubt it though due to the speeds we hit, I doubt it was rebadged as it had the full M6 quad exhaust, & body kit, also was wearing normal CA plates not brand new off lot paper plates, so no break in period.

I'll even offer a challenge if it was a board member here, anytime you want a re-match I'm ready It is a beautiful ride & deff has better interior etc..LoL

1st pic as we are merging onto (405)

(1) Last pic as I flew by him....

2005 C6 w/A4 Automatic---- modds----3.90 gears Long tube headers, X-pipe, hi-flo cats, intake, CAI, cat-back, 160 stat, full dyno tune w/Torque Management removal, 345/30/19 Michelin pilots on 19x12 wheels, cosmetic Z06 rear 1/4 panels to fit 345's (405 rwhp) (394 rwto)

Let me be the first to congratulate you. Thats a really nice kill there.

I've always said that a modded 'Vette or Viper is basically the king of the streets, nothing beats them in speed unless you happen to have a Supra with 50k put into it or something lol.

Throw a supercharger on your 'Vette and you'll kill anything on 4 wheels and more or less, 2 wheels.

Vettes are fast that's for sure and can/do have lots of mods for them...But they really are just one step up from a Mustang or a Camaro. I don't care for their interiors and the fact that they are as common as a Hyundai...just not for me...

props for the kill! I take it that Porsche didn't want to play?

What kind of MPG you get with those 3.90 gears?

One note about vettes and the likes of Vipers and modded Mustangs, they are great for runs at speed, but can be a bear to launch for the average driver good on the street (no slicks)vs. a awd car like a modded evo or wrx which will beat most of them up to 60-80mph.

The Porsche wasn't interested at all..... MPG did drop w/gears but went back up w/long-tube headers, I average about 19-20 mpg now not too shabby.
On the way home some guy in a BULLIT badged rustang wanted to play, he instantly turned into a decimal point in my rearview mirror.

My C6 hooks pretty well w/345's (brand new) & warm roads 0-60 is silly fast as you can see it in the HUD on windshield shocking how fast the #'s go up! Yes Vettes are common, but fun as hell when modded (Supercharger is coming next) I may have to swap in 3.42 gears as the 3.90's w/blower prolly = ice capades

& yes I'd take the BMW M6 anyday over my C6, but I'd sell it & buy a used SL65

No, just (1) stock E55k when my C6 had only cat-back & CAI, he pulled me pretty good in (2) of the races (my rear tires were totally bald) the other (2) I only lost by 1-1 1/2 lengths from 40mph to 140+ E55k is the shi-t! I'd love to run a modded one now & see where I stand as this M6 lost badly + we went to there sweet spot 1xx+mph & I kept pulling away

Funny thing I was curious about there 1/4 & trap speeds so Dragtimes I went a lookin' M6's on there w/3.91 gears cams, cat-back, CAI, are 12.00 @ 118-119mph?? I thought they could do that stock??

I deff think the M6 I ran was bone stock as I had absolutely NO trouble pulling 6-7 lengths

Nice job, Sean. You have one of the best looking Vettes on the road and it seems one of the fastest. Take it easy bro.

Yes, you'll want to go to a lower gear specially if you get a positive displacement blower. I have a 88 Mustang GT that is heavily modified and has a centrifugal SC and I run a 3.55 gear. I am planning on going with a turbo setup soon or a larger SC, car makes around 480hp now.

Holy crap you are right! the Vert weighs 489 more lbs than the Coupe! info from Autotrader.com that would easily equate .40-.50 tenths of a sec slower!! rough estimate every .10 tenth = a car length in a race, so my 6-7 length pull would be dropped to just about dead even w/stock Coupe M6 or at best I'd pull a 1-2 lengths in a imaginary 1/4 mile race, which I've yet to do.

Having said that the weight handicap should be hardly an issue at the speeds we reached, doing only frwy roll-ons.

M6 Coupe is indeed a hauler!! amazing as it only has 385 Crank torque.

Thanks man. The wait is killing me. It's going to be Sept. or October '08.

And yeah, we'll totally meet up when I get her. I'm going for white so it'll be the perfect contrast to your car which is as stealth black as they come. We'll go terrorize some Gallardos and F-cars.

To bad you are in Cali cause it would be nice to see how ENDSMGNT's Stage 2 E55 would fair up against you at the dragstrip since his car tookout a stock(I hope) C6 ZO6 in both races they had giving the C6 ZO6 a break on both races. By the way your C6 looks deadly as hell.....it looks awesome

Thanks bro! I'm sure his Stage 2 would give my C6 trouble, they are truely potent stock, & especially when modded mid to low 11's is NO joke! E55K

I still love merc's & I will be hunting for a used SL600 or CL65, (prolly SL600 as I prefer there lines etc...) Also a tuned V12 600 TT is very potent, there severely de-tuned from the factory, your C32 although in stock form is still eye catching, I always find myself admiring Merc's on the freeways/parking lots etc.. I saw a brand new SL550 blk on blk w/fact chromes on the 405 yesterday absolute Stunna'! I'm deff wanting a blk on blk SL600 TT!!
