E63 vs SL 55 on highway

Last kill story I was in was actually posted by Juice63, my 07 E63 vs a C6 vette, video of me at the Track, you can see it if you look down the list of posts in Kill stories.

This race was on the highway vs an 04 SL 55 my buddy has. We were driving to a indoor Karting track (buttloads of fun, by the way, if you haven't tried it) and we were trying to settle whose car was faster, his or mine. We were on the cell phone discussing, so we slowed down to 40 (empty highway) and I counted off "1-2-3". We both jumped on it, I pulled him from 40-90 or so and we backed off. He complained that his car didn't kick down because he was in comfort mode. I suggested a second try. "1-2-3" and I pulled him again from 40-90. Third time, he said his car was not downshifting as quickly as mine, so I suggested that I give him the jump, "1-2-3", wait for him to hit it, and punch it as soon as I could after I heard him hit it. Pulled him again by 100. I was shocked. He did not seem psyched. The SL 55 sounds way more bad-ss, however. Oh yeah, and then I cleaned up at the Kart track. 40 miles per hour on the ground feels pretty sick, and the race beats you up pretty well after a few of them!

SL65
The SL's problem is it's so darn heavy. It's slower than the E55 and CLS55.

he didnt switch from comfort mode to sport mode while driving did he? i was told by the stealership that it is bad to do that and you should only change while not moving with the car on and in park.

nice kill. gearing is also in your advantage in addition to weighing less.

He did switch while moving, I do this all the time and had no idea it was bad for the car... do you have anything to back that up, because it doesn't sound like it makes any sense, you are just changing the electronic shift points in the adaptive tranny...

Yes, I had a definite gearing advantage at those speeds... easier for the car to find the "right" gear when you have two extra to choose from. I'll have to try him from a dig.

wow what dealership is that?

i guess changing shock settings in the car during driving will cause the wheels to come off....

That's just an urban legend, its not all of the wheels, just the rear left.

Great runs.. stay tuned we will have a ton of 63vs 55 runs tomorrow, hopefully we get the max out of both.

AMG flag shall be flown high tomorrow.

cars should be closer as the E63 is heavier than the E55, and only slightly lighter than the SL 55 .. Your buddy may have a faulty pump or suffers from a dummied down ECU/TCU. When he jumped you , Im suprised you pulled, seems like he should have kept the jump margin. Tell him to check his pump..
