Dead even with modded E46 M3

Ok well I drifted onto "my local mexican drag strip" and I spotted a white M3 so, being in dyno mode, I decided to make a nice smoke show for him. He knew it was on and he caught up quickly to me.

We start playing around a bit just to make sure. He had a girl in the passenger side. We lined up and did a 2nd gear pull. We had a few obstacles in our way but we went all the way up to about 100. Neither of us pulled away, we were pretty much dead even.

After the race, I spoke to him a bit and he told me he's stick and we complimented eachother's rides and parted ways.

Later that night I caught up with a few of my boys and I told them about the race. They knew exactly who it was and one of my friends was actually on the phone with him. They told me he has a few mods and possibly a tune. I also noticed his car was lowered and it was louder than usual. I raced E46's back when I was modded and I was able to usually slightly pull on them upstairs. Now that I'm stock-ish, it seems like I'm even...strange because I know they trap higher than me and this guy also had a few mods. His girl looked skinny so I don't think he was weighed down lol. Anyway thats my story

I also once again confirmed that my car does not go over 138 lol.

Good kill, but a modded e46 should of walked away from you with relative ease. A stock e46 should be able to do so, too. Sounds like you have a strong clk.

Those e46 motors suck. They are overrated. Had a encounter with a e46 smg awhile back. It just edged my 350z stock.

Dude, how can you called it a race when the race started in 2nd gears? From a dead start, the E46 M3 will kill the Clk 500 !! M3 0-60 5s & Clk 500 0-60 6s.

The CLK500 coupe was actually clocked at 5.2 seconds to 60. Also, it has more usable torque throughout the powerband than the M3. All things equal, the M3 should easily outrun it, but hey man, as said before, anything can happen in real life. Remember, you have to push the M very hard to get those times.

Right....'cause all races are from 0-60...

Like I've said, I've ran E46 and E36 M3's before and seen different results every time. I think I've raced like 3 E36 M's. 2 of them I beat pretty badly, 1 of them kept up and I was barely ahead (I have a vid of it). When I was modded (Without NOS) I beat an E46 up top. Stock, so far I got pulled on by one by about 2 lengths while going around a curve from 100-130+ and I also just tied one. Maybe the stick is much slower as the one that beat me was SMG? The guy who I tied with seemed like a good driver as I heard him rev match his downshift and I could hear the car revving high when he shifted and they seemed like quick shifts. He also had his girl with him so he didn't want to be embarassed, plus after talking to my friends about it they told me he is pretty heavy into street racing so he obviously has experience and knew what he was doing...

I also raced an STi from a dig and beat him. On that same night I race a different STi from a highway roll and he pulled me. Crazy stuff goes down on the streets. When I was at e-town I ran a 13.8 and a dude in an E46 M3 with carbon fiber parts, full exhaust and headers, intake, tune, drag radials and some other stuff only got a 13.6...

I also pulled a new 335i on a roll all the way up to 130 and I beat an XKR Jag from a dig into the triple digits.

One other thing to note was that I was in dyno mode and I can almost always trip ESP when going from low speeds or a dig. With dyno mode the car just rips.

The M3's don't have much room for error though, takes a real good driver to get the most out of that car.

ive always said it, the 500 motors are really strong up top and can def hang/beat an M3 (E46) on the highway, roll is harder b/c of the torque converter and weight
