Nice kill!!! Your SL55 must be running strong....have you dyno'ed it or taken it to the track?
ItalianStallion:
Motor Trend tested it a few years back: 12.26 @118.58mph (same test, same day a CL55 ran a 12.38@114.45mph).

Changes car to car. On my E46 it kicks in just north of 160, on M5s it is apparantly 170mph. They should just derestrict them all.

I remember hearing that Audi set the limiter for 155mph but it was set for tires with barely any tread...so a car with full tread would be slightly taller... and one revolution of the wheel would cover slightly more ground than the no tread tire... and resulted in 158mph top speeds on cars with full tread depth. I imagine that changing tire sizes could have an even more profound impact...and inaccurate speedo if not corrected. Did you guys with the higher instrumented mph change your wheels/tires sizes?

Nice run between two remarkable automobiles. I met a guy who had a 575M with nearly every aftermarket bolt-on minus forced induction you can buy. Pulled very hard and the catalyst delete with Tubi's simply sounded epic. And credit to Mercedes for building automobiles that feel as rock solid in triple digits as when merely cruising around. Assuming he was stock, although the Ferrari certainly feels faster, the kill is quite believable. On a side note, you must have some interesting morning.
"Hmmm, do I take the 600 or the 55 out today..." Jackass.

Transferred:
The standard M3 rear tires are 255/40ZR18's. I believe the 19' optional wheels are 255/35ZR19's (including what I am reading for the Competition Package). These are exactly the same height (check it out on this gear ratio calculator): http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/gears/
If you are running 265/35, your tire diameter is .27" higher and this might be giving you the extra MPH.

I couldn't tell you, I would assume at the very least 5-10 RWHP. I know air filters on the 600 alone add 10RWHP so I imagine the 55 is around the same area.

Optional twin-spoke 19s are 225/255 but CSL-style come with that vital extra centimeter all round.
