E500 PULLS ON 2005 style M3

This guy passed me on the freeway on the left lane so I decided to follow, cruising through lite traffic at about 85 mph, no crazy weaving here. As soon as we were at an incline the left 2 lanes opened up with 1/2 mile in front open, I looked over at my wife and she shook her head no, as soon as she did that he took off with his pipes screaming then she said okay go ahead then, He must have jumped a good 2 cars but by the time I hit 125 mph I was on his *** so I let off. This is my second m3, first was from a dead stop and I got him, I figured from a higher speed it should be faster but I guess not.

I'm sure what happened here happened but with equal drivers the E46 M3 is going to pull the E500 from down low to up top no problem.

Was it the coupe or conv. you ran? Conv weighs a lot more so would be closer. Did he have aftemarket 20s?

Now E550 would be much better placed to run an E46.

+1 Those things are pretty quick if you know how to use them.

I say it was a poser and not an E46 M3. E500 will get pulled on by an E46 M3 everywhere!

This aint aboushi, no bs here. Like I've said I ran one before with the same results. It was a coupe with stock wheels, not a poser, my car has 20's. If this is not supposed to happen then my car must be blessed, Ive also pulled away from EVO'S,STI'S,G35 AND 350Z'S.

May be true, but they aren't point and squirt like the E500. Driver is who you beat. Put me in a stock E46 M3 and I'll leave behind any stock E500, one with 20s means we'd soon be in different zip codes.

x100. Those 2 cars aren't even in the same league in acceleration. Maybe OP debadged his E55 to a E500?

IIRC...

E46 M3 is low 13's in a 1/4 mile. 2003 E500, with a 5sp tranny, is low-mid 14's. Hell, even my E500 with the 7sp tranny is a 14.1 car.

Unless the M3 driver was driving with the handbrake on, there's no way an E500 should be able to keep up at any point in that race.

Agree. Plus sometimes I get into that half throttle type of racing because I'm not sure if we are actually going or he is just in a hurry so it sometimes screws me up.

I have to agree on this one, E46 M3 is definetely faster than E500 or basically anything "500" speaking about the old engine with 306BHP......
There is lots of "standard" 330Ci coupes looking like M3s....fans are crazy, they can do anything.

Amen to that. E550 could take out a well-driven E46, but not a 500, 'specially not one w/20" rims.
