Quote: Stock Evo X's are nothing special straight-line.

Modded Evo's can be a nightmare. GT-35r or GT37r Turbo'd Evos are devistating, both from the dig and on a roll. You need something SERIOUS to beat one of those on the streets.
I run a gt35r (blouch Dom3) I havent ran into any Evo's that are that done up I guess. I am not really into street racing, but I have had to pass a few, which can be a task with shattered ego, in their evos. They are a car to be reckoned with, but I dont think they are anything to really sweat about. On the track some sticky drag radials do just as good as an AWD launch. There was a CLS at a local strip doing 12 second passes on his 22in rims. Not my thing, but something majestic about seeing that car sail down the strip while a vette(older model 00-02) was hunkered down to keep up with it.

Quote: Not true. Big turbo Evos keep pulling past that speed. I ran a 2.3L stroker motor Evo with a GT35R (I think) and kept pullin hard all the way to 140 and then the motor popped.

Quote: I ment stock... anything with a fully built motor that can rev to 9grand is going to have a top end especially matted with a garrett turbo
Does'nt need to rev to nine grand to have topend. 7500 rpm revlimiter on an EVO or DSM will still have the car running 11's at over 120mph in the 1/4 mile especially depending on mods.

It's funny, last year just after I got my CLK63 and still running in ( a couple
of hundred only) I was driving down a country lane when I caught a Mitsubishi evo 8 I think. I followed him for a couple of miles ,no straight
bits to collar him then suddenly he must have seen me in his mirror. WOW
this thing took off like a rocket and took the next couple of bends flat around
80-90mph, never saw him again. But for those who think you can get 900hp
from an EVO think again. In 1999 I had an EVO 6. I took it to Ralliart, the UK's
top tuner, 3 engines later and 35k light in the pocket the most they got was
395bhp running at 2 bar with octane booster. At this stage is was not nice to drive, booging down and consistently listening for detonation. Maybe you can get 900hp if you dropped a CL65 engine in.

Quote: Why are you the only stock clk55 with traction issues from a slow roll with stock tires and wheels.
Just saw this, and I'm wondering: do you mean "slow roll" as in a 5 mph rolling start? Because if you're talking, say, from a 5 mph roll, with stock 245s on the back, ****ANY**** CLK55 would have traction issues. Mine certainly did, which is why I stuck 18" rims on there w/275s.

Or are we talking a faster roll?

He was talking about a 1st gear roll around 10mph not 40mph. I like the 40roll in 2nd.

Never seen so much BS in my life. Only once did the dyno flick up to 900hp
and for less than a second. Even if this was true the engine would explode
if run for a few seconds. When they took the dyno up slowly it only wen't to
700hp for about a second, any longer..bang!!!
When I mean tuning, I am talking about a car you can drive every day and
be reliable. Clarkson said even the Evo 400 was not good to drive because to get that sort of power it's practically in race form. There's race tuning and road tuning, don't get confused, it's easy to pluck any figure out of the
air but proving it is difficult. The guy talking sounds like even he was some
amateur giggling at the dyno figure.

I think its pretty narrow minded to say that you cannot get that kind of 600-700hp power out of an EVO. Never the less, its a 2 litre engine. I am not nearly impressed with a 500 hp out of a v12. Its almost expected, and lesser on the 4cyl.

Not that I'll admit to it, but I saw an c32 chasing an STi today. Are the c32's easy to upgrade? Its apprearance was subtle, but you could tell something had been done to it. But it just stayed in the Rear view, and I guess his feelings were hurt when he got the thumbs up and he looked away. so much for sportsmanship.
