CLK430 vs 987 Boxster S

While going back home from a very bad day at work, i stayed from 7:30 am till 11:30pm... i glance a new model boxster S with a big guy driving quite enthusiastically, so i keep him in my vision hoping him to take the same route , eventually he DOES!

we are both taking a short tunnel so we exit the road and starting to head to the start of the tunnel, he mashes "the pedal to metal", while i am putting the esp off and lowering to 2nd gear, he flees a couple of cars in front of me and i am still loosing traction behind him until my car literally jumps the difference between us and i high beam him a couple of time to move out of the way, and i leave him behind 5 to 6 cars minimum... we meet up again at a traffic light and parks next to me... he was furious with a really flushed red face so i ask him if it was a real boxster S or just a look a like with a real ear to ear grin on my face, he looks at me with a really disgusted look and takes of while the light is still RED!!!!!

i didn't stop grinning all night! and forgot the bad day i had at work!

BTW my car has a the amg air filter / exhaust and brabus cams with a remap!!

I have owned 2 Boxster in the past. They look good (Porsche cache) and they drive really well but they are SLOW for what you pay. I was embarrassed by a C5 Corvette off the line (I knew I was going to get killed) which was amplified by the fact that I had a 21 YO date in the passenger seat (I was 30 at the time). Any ways, now with a 5.4 liter V8 I love pulling up next to a Boxster and emphasing the fact that they could not afford a real Porsche.

You sound like a real big man there. Not sure what "emphasing" means either.

this quote is why i lost interest in getting a boxster, if i do get Porsche(in future) will be 911 or Cayman.

It's truly sad that some shallow commentary is enough to deter another buyer from otherwise enjoying a fine mid-engined sports car. Even sadder that some see a bargain attempt at owning part of the Porsche mystique while I see a phenomenal motor, gearbox, and perfectly balanced layout. I have witnessed too many owners prioritizing the brand and image over the quality and actual performance. Buy a sports car solely for the static it delivers you...because at the end of the day that is what separates the true enthusiasts from the brand ******.

New Boxster S is what I learned on to drive stick, so I may be baised...

But any Boxster haters should really go drive one. Sure it's not the "definitive" P-car...but it's still fast, fun, and a blast to drive.

Also to OP: good kill, though if someone really wanted to push his Boxster S I feel it would easily keep up or pull on a CLK430...even with "AMG Filters"

I'm assuming he meant the AMG air box...because AMG "filters" are the same ones in any OEM MB. Air box, exhaust, and cams should yield some nice gains on the M113, especially from the seat of the pants feel. What kind of numbers are you seeing?

Still...to pull six lengths in a straight line it was either a re-badge or an average driver. End of the day though, it's all about having some fun with your car.

Nowhere near perfect, but at least I don't take jabs at what other people can't afford. A guy in a CL pulling up next to you can say the very same thing. Nothing more than stupid commentary if you ask me.

well cams/iridium spark plugs/remap/"AMG" air box /"AMG" C43 full exhaust/ gutted all 4 catalyzers will give you around 40 hp and 50Nm on the crank ... well we were playing on a straight line so handling has nothing to do with it ...

i've beat two Boxter S in my 08 S2000, was not impressed. i had another one try to chase me up a winding road to a golf course, he was not happy when he pulled in.

Depends on the year, newest Boxster S have close to 300hp with a curb of aprox 3200lbs IIRC.

read all my "humble" mod's and do a search about the amg air box in this forum
Don't need to do a search or read about your mods to realise putting SIX lengths on a Boxster S is due to driver error. Like I said, good kill...

Nice gains. You ever run it down the track?
