2nd statement is right for sure. I used to have E430 b4 c32 and later i was driving it for about a week while m c32 was in service. C is so much faster. S430 and E430 - same engine. C32 and SLK32 same engine.
About SLK320 vs S430 - i think SLK will win up to 100mph for sure.
Weight: 3120 lbs.
Horsepower: 215 hp
Max Horsepower: 5700 rpm Torque: 229 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 3000 rpm Drive Type: RWD
Weight: 4160 lbs.
V8 -1 Horsepower: 275 hp
Max Horsepower: 5500 rpm Torque: 295 ft-lbs.

You can see that SLK has more hp/lbs than S430.

For some reason, I thought we were talking about a CLK430... yeah, the S is a heavy car so I wouldn't be surprised to see an SLK320 beat it. I was not too impressed with the SLK 320 when I ran it against a stock CLK430 up to 120 mph.... the C32 and SLK32, despite their shared V6 engine blocks, are significantly faster than a SLK320.

Yes, I'm well aware that the C32 and SLK32 are supercharged engines. Fortunately the superchargers used by AMG in those cars are vast improvements over those used by Mercedes in their earlier Kompressor models. The C32 and SLK32 are relatively quick cars, however, a little low on torque for my taste.

Past 60, a CLK430 will walk away from me slowly so that at 100mph it will be almost 1 car length ahead of me. based on experience.
0-60 I will beat it every time, guaranteed. Unless you can find a manual CLK430

Wow.....I dont see how a SLK will touch a CLK430....I have a E420, and i TOASTED a SLK320...It wasent even a race...Maybe the CLK430 weights more dunno, but i know that thing wont touch my car.

im just a poor college kid with more to worry about than just buying stuff for my car, the mods are slow but quality. Kleemann suspension will be on in the next couple months...cant wait....

Wait wait .. to be fair, where are you guys pulling these numbers from?? MBUSA states 01 CLK430 0-60 in 6.9.. and E420...7.1
I know for sure E420 is a nice car (presumably W210, not 124), and after 60 it is certain to beat me in the long haul but come on... weight is weight and the W210 weighs a lot more than my R170.
Plus I consistantly pull 6.4- 6.5 all day on G-tech, so I have a lot of doubt about the ability the E420 to take off the line to 100kmh...
Unless someone wants to proove me other wise...I am in Northern Cal and would gladly do a little run.
