Top Speed
Ok guys so I was driving a friend home after a long night.
It was about 530 in the morning.
No cops what so ever on 75.
As it was getting light outside I decided to floor the car and see what it can do.
Prior to this the fastest I've gone in the car was 146MPH.
Started at 60 mph and just hit it.
By the time I realized i looked down at the speedometer and my needle was at 161mph.
Once i hit 161 i let go of the gas and coasted.
I still feel like the car had more i was only at 4300 rpms.
Anybody have any stories?

200mph in Mexico in the Vette. A little over 160 in the CLK500 and about the same in the M5. I've only gotten up to 150 with the CTS-V but I still have under 1000 miles on it so I'm sure I'll be seeing some 19X's sometime soon.

My highest GPS verified top speed is 147.33mph (on my vbox)...at a drag strip (MIR) using the shut-down area after a 1/4 mile run. I was testing to see if I can go up to 150mph to measure my acceleration times. I had plenty of space but I wanted to test the braking area to make sure I didn't need to do a panic stop. Next time 150+mph...

What flash do you have to hit 161? I thought our C55's were limited to 155 w/ stock ecu.....Best I got mine up to (DashDaq said this) was 148 before the limiter kicked it out-dont know what the spedo said (its off anyway enough for me not to look at it)-

Well thats the thing. My car from what I know is stock.
Never got Ecu done.. i hit 161 and it felt like it was gonna keep and going.
So maybe the person who had my car before had it chipped. I dont know
I am in need of running against another c55 to see if my car has work done to it or if its a factory freak. I ran against a clk63 the other day and i was dead even with him from 20 to 115..

75 seems to be a good spot while heading towards glades.
or Also the tunnel by downtown. Thats where the clk63 and I went against each other.

I'm running the same set up as you (H+R sways, res+cat delete, modified my own intake(pulled the fins out)) and mine stopped at 155-it wanted to keep going-not that fast-but it wanted too-pulled hard up to 125-then not so much
Same color too-so I know Mars is the fastest C55 out there

I think that may be why... Mars red seems to be the "Special Edition" lol..
Everycar is built the same but there are those few that have extra power. so perhaps thats what happen with mine.

Mine is close to stock. Never upgraded ECU and my speedo reads 160 at top of 4th...I've never went over 160 though... It does feel like it may go a bit more but I never tried it
