03 SL55 AMG vs 08 BMW M6 vs ?

This was one of the funnest/deadliest runs I had by far.

Me: 2003 SL55 AMG Stock, 20 inch rims.
Him: 08 BMW M6, Eisenmann Exhaust System, No Governor.

Started off when I seen a white M6 in the rear view mirror trying to chase me during street lights, we got next to each other he wanted to race obviously, he was reving his engine and giving me the look, right when the light turned green, I launched on him he could not keep up with the monstrous supercharger , we got on the freeway, now I'm going about 120 MPH, when I fishtailed while switching lanes, he was behind me on a different lane, he slammed on his breaks thinking I was going to crash, but I got out of it, and the race continued, we got next to each other doing about 80 MPH, we both honk to let each other know we are ready, he takes off, but I catch on, slowly pass him, the adrenaline is pumping I'm going 100, 120, 130, and now I'm at 140! his right behind me... oh wait why am I not going anywhere?? The speedometer seems to be stuck at 140?? DAMN YOU GOVERNOR!... he slowly passes me by....

But wait, the story doesn't end there, I see a very fast moving car in my rear view, cant be a cop, the car is too small and switching lanes like crazy... wait, what no it cant be.... a Porsche 911 GT2 (530HP Stock), it passes both of us by while I'm doing about 140 MPH and the M6 is probably at 150-160.... The porsche must have been doing 180+ he passed us pretty quick

We all got next to each other, and raced a couple of times some more, but the Porsche was by far the winner...

I will never forget this day, only if I had my camera on me!

Sounds like M6 driver can't drive. Stock for stock they trap higher with lower ET's than SL55's, with an exhaust he should've shat on you.

Where do I begin...alright.. 1st of all your sig says you sold your SL55.. is this story from before you sold it? Secondly, are you sure it was an M6 and not a 650i? There is no way in hell a stock SL55 is going to run down a properly driven/running M6 above 100mph. Thirdly, since when does an SL55 have a speed governor at 140mph? Your story is mildly entertaining...the only thing getting in the way of fully enjoying it are basic facts...

Let me be the first to call

Yes the story was from before I sold my car.
Why in the world would I make up this story of me getting smoked by the M6 after 140 MPH, and a 911 GT2?

Your pathetic.

Who knows what your motivation is...why post an old story about your car after you sold it?

Please...I think everyone knows who is the pathetic one in this little passion play...

What about the fact that your car's VMAX is not 140mph?

Because I have never raced a M6 and Porsche 911 GT2 at the same day same time.

It was something I will never forget, I'm pretty sure anyone whose first "fast" car was an SL55, would say the same and never forget neither.

Yes my car topped at 140 MPH, it would not go over 140 MPH so obvious-****in-ly it had a governor which prevented it from going any faster.

The speed governor on an SL55 is at 250 km/h...or 155mph.... but you would know that if you actually hit the limiter...

Wow are you serious? my car did not make the cut by 15 mph, so all of a sudden I'm b/sing?.. lol how old are you? 15??

The needle would go a little over 140, and then back and forth, but it would not reach 155 at all.

Yes...I am serious...are you?

An SL55 isn't going to indiscriminately decide to limit the top speed because it was feeling a little lazy that day. The speed limiter is in the ECU software. So unless you or someone else tuned the ECU and changed the numeric value to 140mph, the SL55 will go to 155mph. Now you say in your original post that your car was stock...so let's rule out the tune...especially since no one would go through the trouble of tuning an SL55 and make the speed limiter come in at 140mph. Where does that leave us? Another possibility is that someone changed the rear gears and did not change the speedometer gear. Once again you say your car was stock...so how can that be the answer. Another possibility is that the SL55 had something mechanically wrong with it that prohibited it from going any more than 140mph. This doesn't make sense since you claimed to have passed an M6 with exhaust. Do you see how your story makes absolutely no sense? So I again pose the same question back at you...are you serious?

Tom, while I agree the modded M6 should have passed him up, I wouldn't disqualify his story just yet. If you take into consideration freeway runs are all about having the correct gears, the story starts to become more tangible. Furthermore, while he may have hit the "limiter" at 140, it may not have been the limiter in question: the Governor. Perhaps the SL55 was suffering from a broken IC pump. I recall my E55 would do the exact same thing, run it's way to hell into triple digits and on occasion sh.t a brick at 135 and hold steady-- to someone who doesn't know any better, they would have easily mistaken it for the governor. After the IC fix I easily reached the 155 mark. Just a thought.

I say the story is plausible, especially if the 55K got the jump, M6 had to get in right gear, M6 lose a second, he gained a second, etc. etc. etc.

The effort you put in just to seem like a total retard is unbelievable.
You seem like a beamer fanatic to me who is mad that a Benz had actually took them on the freeway, perhaps the M6 driver did not shift correctly?

Either way, you seem to be holding a grudge and it is very clear...

Pure moron, grow the **** up.

He claims that the M6 took off first at 80mph and then he tracked him down and passed him. That would seem to be a very healthy running SL55...

You seem to know my story way better than me.

Yeah he got the launch, by 2-3 secs tops, but he was shifting like a dumb ***, in which case I caught up with him and passed him by, he was still half a car length behind me and once I topped at 140 or "155" he passed me by very slow.

Sorry I didn't know I had to detail every aspect of my story for idiots like you that make **** up and some how get pleasure off of it.

He got the launch by 2-3 seconds!?

Maybe it was just a 650 badged as an M6?

I have to admit...your story is getting more entertaining by the second..now the M6 got a 2-3 second jump on you... wow

Do you do fantasy writing for a living? Can I commission you to write a story about how your SL55 beat a Bugatti Veyron (of course only up to 140mph)?

Lol nah, he just did not know how to drive his car, wasn't shifting right, which gave me the upper hand that's all.

VERY healthy indeed.

"moe money"....how do you know he had the governor removed if he was a stranger...and that the exhaust was Eisenmann rather than any one of the plethora of aftermarket exhausts available to M cars??

When was this? GT2 hasn't been available that long....

Answer my questions rather than spout incoherent rudeness.

I was perfectly polite but they do say rudeness and stupidity are closely linked...

I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the other guy who started all this nonsense.

Now even if I told you how I knew that, you guys will some how turn that **** around and say something stupid like "Oh So NOW bla bla bla"...

It's pointless, believe me if you want, if not oh well, I have no reason to prove anything to anyone, end of discussion
