Killed Story: CLK350 vs. Mustang GT 500 vs. 350Z

I was following my friend's Mustang GT 500 with a supercharger (437HP on wheel dynotesting) home with my CLK350 on the freeway. We were just going the usual 80 MPH and then this 350Z comes from my behind and then cuts me and flashes emergency lights. I reacted by down gearing and gunned my car. My friend saw it as well and gunned it. After a few cutting through traffic we lost the 350Z and one straight away opened up. My friend was behind probably two or three car lengths, and we just floored it from 90 MPH. By the time I hit my 130 MPH limiter. He was doing 142 mph 6-7 car lengths in front. His car reminds me of when I test drove my friend's C63 AMG on the freeway. Really monsterously fast.

so you beat a nissan 350Z in a clk350 through traffic?

a) 350z is faster than clk350....that is pretty obvious i hope, and perhaps i misread your story
b) you raced through traffic

be careful. you will probably get flamed big time on this forum for racing in traffic.....not smart

Its bad enough street racing on empty roads and endangering our own lives but endangering others = lame!!!

Agreed

im all for putting a Z in its place but in traffic is no time to drive fast. I get provoked atleast 2x a week driving to work on the conjested 55 freeway and have no intrest in biting

Don't take this the wrong way, but why do "we" always flame the guy that tells us the street racing story? It is understood that it isn't the wise decission, but we tend to jump all over the "street racers", but the best part it is only sometimes. Like the threshold is when there is traffic, but only a certain amount of traffic. Seems like when someone tells a story about a street race that doesn't invole traffic it is seemingly fine. Guess I just question why we have a kill story section if it is taken as an opportunity to jump on a soap box.

Besides, folks driving home after drinking until 5AM (nothing personal J, just helping push my point....I'm guilty of doing it as well) isn't the wisest choice either. I'm sure MANY more of us do that than the occasional street race. And I've seen/read some folks doing both........now that is scary. Nothing like 20 beers and 3 shots of whisky to make your car faster.

Again, just a general question and the answer is obvious, just throwing it out there.

Guess the bottom line is just be safe.

p.s. Enjoy the football games today.

fact.....racing in itself isn't the wisest decisions.....i just usually say something when someone does so in traffic and when weaving in and out of traffic occurs (like in this thread)

.....and when i drink, i dont drive......i use zingo, which is like a taxi service that drives me and my car home. best idea ever!

No worries, glad you didn't take it the wrong way and I couldn't agree more.
