OT: Switzer R900 v. Twin-turbo Gallardo (video)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZNy1...layer_embedded

Earlier this week, a few enthusiasts rented out South Florida's excellent PBIR to run a few friendly "grudge match" drag races. Among the attendees were one crisp, white Switzer R900 GTR and one screaming yellow, twin-turbo Gallardo.

Let me give you a quick rundown of the video: the cars line up, the lights turn green, and they go.

If you've been following the exploits of the Switzer-tuned GTR Nissans over the last few years, you already know who wins.

That was probably a low boost Turbo Gallardo.

Whatever helps you keep the fires of Lambo-lust from dying out, I guess. That GTR was making 950 to the wheels.

Mabo lust will never die. They have been making wonderful cars for many year. The GTR as well is a great car as well. I still like the old R33 the best.

Man, I've never been in a Lambo I liked - but there's plenty of guys who love the cars, for sure.

With a boost leak on pump gas. UGR Gallardos have been deep into the 9s as high as 169mph. That GTR is awesome though.

A sampling of the top 60-130mph runs:

3.53 - Underground / TT Gallardo / 2-shifts
3.85 - Switzer / R1K GT-R / 2-shifts
4.09 - Acicchelli / TT Gallardo / 1-shift
4.52 - jbsteven / SC&TT Ford GT 994 rwhp / 1-shift
4.53 - HoustonT / 880 rwhp Supra / 1-shift
4.87 - Oz / Supra / 1-shift
5.04 - TwinTurboM3 / TT E46 M3 @ 25psi / 1-shift
5.14 - Hllywood / TT Viper / 93 octane/ 2-shifts
5.24 - Blacksheep / Supercharged '08 Z51 Corvette, Dallas Performance 1000: Forged 416, ProCharger F1C @ 18psi, Alky Control Methanol 942whp/938tq, 0-shifts

I saw Underground Racing TT Gallardos with 1400+whp trap 250+ at the Texas Mile. Here is their website just for reference: http://www.undergroundracing.com/veh...-gallardo.html

The fastest GTR at the Texas Mile did around 205 +/- 2mph. I can't remember whether it was their Alpha 9 or 10 package ( Therefore it had at least 900hp, at most 1100hp ), but I do recall the driver saying it was on race-gas. So the performance should be similar to this "950 to the wheels" GTR. By the way where did you get the information that it was 950whp?
Here is AMS's website for the GTR : http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/a..._products.html

A 1500whp Lambo would run 8's maybe 7's if it doesn't spin. It would destroy any R35 GTR on the planet. I don't need to keep any "fires of Lambo", because I am not a fan boy. If the GTR someday beats a top UR Gallardo then good for the GTR. But like I already said, either the Gallardo was a stageI (ore similar) Turbo (because 10's at 130's seem pretty accurate for a 650whp car weighing 3150 lbs ), something was wrong with it, or the driver just didn't know what he was doing.

Its like that with every car thoue. Take a Corvette. People love them or they hate them. Not a fan of any Lambo? Countach? Diablo? More of a Ferrari guy?

The GT-R's are now hitting 8's. They will be faster once the transmission issues are remedied. This is an engine platform with only about 5 years maximium of research done on it.

Yep but 8s plural?

The AMS GT-R has a street car record for 60-130mph in 3.34 seconds beating UGRs Gallardo with a 3.53. Although a good question was asked, with UGR's 177mph trap speed, was 60-130 data taken?
